Nov-13-01, 01:29 PM (EST) "The wide between both rails" HiIt is possible to modify the wide one between both rails? (In spanish is "Trocha") By defect, they appear with the wide standard (1,4 meters), but we used wide of 1 meter between both rails. Regards,Germán Morales Loyola

This is not good for my work, because our locomotives run in rails of gauge of 1 meter. the following photos are some examples of the problems:The blue arrows show to the distance between rails and the wheels. Nov-14-01, 09:06 AM (EST) 4. "RE: The wide between both rails" The issue of track gauge in MSTS is a funny one. The track in the game all appears to be standard gauge (4'8.5", 1435mm). This is the standard for most of Europe, US, Canada, a good deal of Australia and various other parts of the world. What is odd is that the Japanese trains in the game run on 3'6" (1067mm) track, but they are modelled on the same track as the US/UK/Austrian trains. If you want to model trains on different gauge of track, you have two options: make your own custom track at whatever gauge you wish (a long process), or make your models to scale so that they appear to be on the right track. This has the problem that they are then out of scale with scenery and standard rolling stock. This is the option MS/Kuju took with the Japanese stuff, and I believe the Ffestiniog in the UK (some rather nice things going on at trainsimfiles on this theme). Common non-standard gauges include 1m (3'3"), 3'6" (these two are compatible to an extent), 5'3" (Ireland including Northern), 5'0" (Russia) (deliberately incompatible with standard, and too narrow to fit a 3rd rail to make mixed gauge), 5'6". There is also the long gone GWR broad gauge of 7' Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
