Nov-11-01, 02:38 AM (EST) "Bridge track" Here's one for the resident experts.
Unless I have missed it there is no bridge track sections available. That is, track piece with no ballast for crossing bridges. Where I come from I have yet to see ballast under the rails across bridges. Does it exist in MSTS or can someone make it?
By the way,I would like to record my appreciation for the tutorials posted by sniper. I have collected them all and find them indispensable.
Cheers

Nov-11-01, 08:50 AM (EST) 1. "RE: Bridge track" You don't need a no-ballast bit of track, when you lay a piece of track on a bridge, the ballast will automatically vanish (most of the time).Message Areas - "Bridge track" – image 1

Nov-11-01, 10:51 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Bridge track" Somebody, whose name I forget, was making a bridge that was actually a track section so that the ballast was not there and you could see through to the water just like real railroad bridges. It was one of those wood steam era trestles or something. Plus it had the advantage of snapping to tracks as it was a track. It was rather nice looking. They may have put it in the files sections here to be downloaded but I'm sure a search would find the original posting on here.-Andy

Nov-12-01, 01:52 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Bridge track" I take it that this is with any other bridge than the road bridge that is with the default objects when starting a route.
When exploring other routes all I see are bridges with ballast under the rails.
Another one from a beginner, is the bridge best placed before or after the track?
Cheers

Jan-17-02, 01:14 AM (EST) 5. "RE: Bridge track" LAST EDITED ON Jan-17-02 AT 01:29 AM (EST)I have been trying to solve this problem for a while and I found the answer so I though I would share it. Sorry if this is not new news!!!!The way to get the ballast to show or not to show on a bridge is to change the object terrain property. To do this:
Right click on the bridge object.
Select "properties".
Click on the "General(cont.)" tab.
Check the "terrain object box." (to Show track ballast)
or
Uncheck the "terrain object box". (to not Show track ballast)
