I've noticed that often the problem with a crashed route has to do with the track and it is possible the restore it by reverting the world directory only (the files in this directory contain most (all?) objects you have placed in your route including track sections) and rebuilding the track database. That way you will not loose any changes to the landscape you've done. Of course there's no guarantee this works for you, there seems to be an unlimited variety of ways that a route may crash.

Oct-05-01, 08:43 AM (EST) 7. "RE: Whats the best way to back up your route?" Here's my two cents and I've had to use the backup twice. As already said, backup up all but the sound, shape, terrtex and textures folders. I do mine to a CD unzipped. Then I sort each of the other folders(root, tiles, world etc) on the HD by date. So after working for an hour and saving my work many times along the way I go to explorer and copy things over to my CD from the routes main folder (i.e. IllinoisCentral in my case), tiles and world folders. I don't always backup the latest activities because all I have right now is an explore one and usually I'm just changing the starting location. Then once a week I do a complete copy of the folders just to make sure nothing got out of sync.David Klemm

If overwrite an old backup, delete the old one first. Because if you just replace it in windows, old files you deleted in your new version (e.g. tiles you deleted) will not be deleted in your backup, just files with the same name replaced.Roní Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
