Oct-04-01, 10:21 AM (EST) "Stupid newbie track laying question.." Hi all.. After having mucked about with skinning since I got my hands on MSTS, I figured its time to try a route.. Is it just me, or is the documentation as bad as I think it is? Ok, I;ve been happily laying track. Figured out siding and platform markers, no sweat, but what I really want to know is what are those blue and sometimes red vertical line markers that show up on track when you're editing it, and why does the grey line that seems to follow the track when itsb not selected tend to stringline on curves, and is this normal? thanks...Harold Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Blue vertical line: end of track section that is not joined to any other track section. If you have two of those closely together on a piece of track (when not selected) that you think is joined then you have a problem and will derail when running a train over it. These lines will show at each end of a track section when you select it but that is normal and only serves to more easily show you the track section.Red vertical line: don't worry, this just marks a switch and won't cause any trouble, it should be there. The gray horizontal line that follows the track joins all track section joints with straight lines thus in curves it looks a little odd but is all right.

"RE: Thanks guys.. that explains alot" LAST EDITED ON Oct-04-01 AT 11:07 PM (EST)Altering dynamic track = the secret is to click on the triangular marker that designates that it is a dynamic track piece. Hit T to toggle, and it will either lay itself the other way if you have already expanded the section, or will curve that way if you then expand it...Hope that is ok...
