After you make your screenshot (ie: print scrn) just follow the instructions I posted here http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID8/738.html (near the bottom of the post) Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

>AND nothing happen If you are using print screen, then the screen shot is on your clipboard. So you need to open it in your imaging program and save on your hard drive as a jpg, bmp or whatever you wish. Then use the procedures in the follow post.

Oct-01-01, 02:57 PM (EST) 5. "RE: how do you get screen shots on MSTS ??" For screen shots of the tools windows I use a small shareware screen grabbing program which runs in the background, called Snaggit ( by Techsmith Corp). There are plently of others you could download for free( try ZDnet)or if you buy Corel Draw you get Corel Capture which does the same job.

Oct-05-01, 05:14 PM (EST) 6. "RE: how do you get screen shots on MSTS ??" You don't really need any additional software. Each time you press <Print Scrn> it will create a screengrab in .pcx format in your Train Simulator root directory. The first grab will be named scrgrb0.pcx, and subsequent grabs will increment the name by 1. You can use the default Windows Paint program to open and edit the pictures. If you quit the editor and restart it, any new screengrabs will overwrite the earlier ones, so it's a good idea to move them to a different directory ASAP to avoid losing them. I have captured over 50 in a single session, so I know it goes that high. I don't know if there is an actual limit.I recommend using another program to convert them to .jpg files so they take less storage space. You'll almost certainly have to convert them if you want to post them because they will likely exceed the 100k file size limit for attachments to posts.Bill Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Oct-05-01, 11:11 PM (EST) 7. "RE: how do you get screen shots on MSTS ??" I didn't know the editor saved pcx screen grabs. I use ALT print screen, which on win98SE grabs the active window, then open up paintbrush or something and click edit, paste. Hitting just print screen grabs the whole screen tho, not just the active window. here's a couple grabs from a dynamic track tutorial I'm putting together:Message Areas - "how do you get screen shots on MSTS ??" – image 1Message Areas - "how do you get screen shots on MSTS ??" – image 2
Message Areas - "how do you get screen shots on MSTS ??" – image 3
Note that the first and the third were whole screen shots, (the third was cropped) grabbed with just print screen, the second is an enlarged version of the dynamic track window grabbed with ALT print screen, and pasted onto a template. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Oct-05-01, 11:45 PM (EST) 9. "RE: how do you get screen shots on MSTS ??" Hey, Jersey, I just saw you in another thread! No, actually, the first shot is gonna be how NOT to, notice the track would have to curve to the right to line up with the other end, which as we know by now it won't do, so if you see that it's time to delete it and start from the other end. As far as the "proper" way to do anything, it's whatever works best for you. Whenever I post any kind of tip I try to make it clear that there are other ways, this is just what works for me. Same goes for the above method of getting screen shots from the editor, the add on screen capture utilities are probably easier, I'm just too lazy to hunt one up and install it. I think the last one I used was an old DOS based one called "Screen Thief". Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Oct-06-01, 08:20 AM (EST) 10. "RE: how do you get screen shots on MSTS ??" LAST EDITED ON Oct-06-01 AT 08:21 AM (EST)The advantage of add-on utilities for screengrabs is that they generally allow capture of the whole screen, including all the editor control windows. The screengrab in MSTS only captures the editor window itself, but it sure is easy and it's already there.Bill Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
