Sep-26-01, 02:49 PM (EST) "XYZ to DEM data gubbins - need some assistance :)" Im currently using the map > digitized contours > DEM > tile process as documented by several people already on this forum for the UK. However, it seems that during the conversion process from an XYZ to a DEM file, Microdem will only allow a minimum of 255 in the "XYZ data spacing interval" box. If a lower number is put in, such as the suggested 30 a "DEM file to large to load" error appears. For obvious reasons, when the tiles are generated using DEM the terrain is pretty blocky and although better than nothing pretty useless Apparently this is inherent in using Microdem with Windows 98. I was wondering if any kind soul out there with Microdem and an OS that "works" would be kind enough to generate the DEM file for me? It would make me a very happy man and reconfirm my faith in the route editor and humanity as a whole Thanks again

Oct-01-01, 00:18 AM (EST) 1. "RE: XYZ to DEM data gubbins - need some assistance :)" I know the feeling, spent alot hours doing contours and all i could get was error in creating DEM so now i am creating the landscape by hand, by using a marker file to out line the contours, and yes it is painstaking but at least i now have hills higher than 4ft!!! So if anyone has the required DEM for Weymouth (Dorset) towards Yeovil (Somerset)in the UK, i'd b very grateful and willing to trash my creation (wouldn't be the first one i've trashed) Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Oct-01-01, 09:01 PM (EST) 3. "RE: XYZ to DEM data gubbins - need some assistance :)" Intitially the Weyouth to Dorchester line, that way i can use it for two or three maps I hope (editor permitting)to build, Weymouth to Bristol (agian it has section that i could use on a different line a at future date), the Abbotsbury and Bridport branches and Weymouth to Southampton. My main trouble is, I just can't get the DEM things to create hills in Dorset so now I am raising the land manually, and yes it takes ages Cheers Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
