Sep-21-01, 04:23 PM (EST) "Swedish Mod for Marias Pass - Questions" Hi all,
I just installed the Swedish modification for the default Marias Pass, and I sure like it a lot! However, I was thinking about taking the mod as it is right now a step further. Therefore I'd like to ask the following questions...1) I already changed the route name to a fictitious one ("Upplandsbanan" in my case) to be able to distinguish it from the normal Marias Pass.
However, I'd also much like to change the station and track names/designations into a more Swedish fashion, because somehow it just doesn't do taking the Dm 3 loco and UNO ore wagons and find myself rumbling through towns which still have English names (NO offense intended!!!).
How do I do this?2) Also, as far as my information goes, in Sweden trains drive on the left side of the route on multiple-tracked sections, not on the right as in the U.S. and many other countries.
Is it possible to change the definition on which side of the track you are running by default?3) This question is for Tomas (the maker of this mod): Do you plan to make a fix for your modified route so that it would include genuine Swedish signals and track signs? I have seen there's already a Swedish signal package available at http://msts.e-buzz.net (where you can also find the mod, for all who might be interested).
Anyway, this mod sure was a neat idea. Maybe I should try and make some custom activities for the modified route.D.M. Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

>How do I do this? There are probably two ways to do this. One, and the "correct" way, would be to edit the route. The station names are in the properties associated with the green platform markers. You'll see them over the tracks in front of a platform. Select one end, right click to bring up the properties, and change the name. Bear in mind though that changing the names will cause existing activities to have problems as they use this actual name, not some internal representation, to identify the platforms. The other way would be to find the platform names in the track database file (.tdb) in the root directory for the route. Here's a sample one:
PlatformItem (
TrItemId ( 48 )
TrItemSData ( 182.129 00000002 )
TrItemRData ( -961.172 1153.25 410.496 -12506 14779 )
PlatformTrItemData ( 00000000 49 )
PlatformName ( "Cutbank Platform" )
Station ( Cutbank )
PlatformMinWaitingTime ( 180 )
PlatformNumPassengersWaiting ( 20 )
)
You would change the value for PlatformName and Station for each PlatformItem entry in the database. CAVEAT: I haven't tried this, and it is quite possible that this information is stored elsewhere in the sim, perhaps in the world files. Changing it here via an edit of the track database rather than via the route editor might render the route unusable. Sidings names are assigned in a similar fashion. If you look at a siding in the route editor, you will see yellow line over the siding with a yellow pyramid on each end. Just like for the platform, select one pyramid, right click, and change the name. Again, you could mess up activities. I've learned this the hard way as I changed some platforms and sidings in Marias Pass 2.0 and messed everyone up!In the same .tdb file you will find siding entries:
SidingItem (
TrItemId ( 427 )
TrItemSData ( 39.6448 00000002 )
TrItemRData ( 956.528 1006 -933.526 -12490 14773 )
SidingTrItemData ( 00000000 685 )
SidingName ( "Shelby North 3" )
Again, I haven't tested this to see if changing it here would cause any problems.>Is it possible to change the

>the track you are running
>by default? Since there is no default, sure! Marias Pass is signaled for running in both directions. If you want to make your activities such that you run on the left side all the time, then go ahead. Any existing activities would have to be changed to do this. Nothing would need to be changed in the route itself, however. Bear in mind that spurs and sidings that are only accessable from one track of a pair would not be reached the same way as before.
