Sep-16-01, 04:33 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Do You have corrected "TSECTION.DAT" File ???" I'm sorry, but I would guess that English is not your first language. The use of the words "corrected" and "imparts" are not used in a day-by-day manner.I would guess that when you say "imparts to people" you are meaning that you want to share a route that you created with other people? Is that correct?I still don't, however, understand that "corrected" tsection.date file part.Keep with it. We'll get an understanding pretty soon. I try to set a correct question in a forum that people did not waste time on searches and might find necessary Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Sep-30-01, 08:52 PM (EST) 7. "RE: Do You have corrected "TSECTION.DAT" File ???" A very good idea indeed!!!!!!! A modified tsection.dat file that includes all the missing trackwork, that just needs to be downloaded and placed into the global folder As I still can't get the single slip to work Mind you who on earth decided to put such long bits of straight track on it and it's has the same problem as the crossings, as in they just don't align up with double track or other points (switches/turnouts)
I am beginning to regret paying £50 for program that just seems to take up my hard disk, has no manual (Oh no, you have to pay extra for that at abacus or somewhere ) and is badly thought out, for as far as i can gather a 100m section of straight track is really only 30m (or is it really measured in feet but they forgot to tell us???), so if you lay track to a know track plan recreating the siding etc to the correct lengths exactly, then then due to the size of the points (switches/turnouts) the sidings apear to be about half the desired length when viewed from above, and if you increase them to look right then the engines look lost in the platforms (and I'm positive the station I am working on doesn't have a platform that measures 1 mile in length!!!!!) was the track designed to one scale, the points (switches/turnouts) to another and the trains to yet another scale If this was a model then I'd find I had track in HO/OO gauge, points (switches/turnouts) in O gauge and engines in TT gauge!
If the blue grid = 2Km then the points (switches/turnouts) are far to big to do prototypical junctions as they take up far to much space, and I'm sure railways don't really need 328ft (yes I still work in feet and inches! or if you prefer 10m) between points (switches/turnouts) placed like this >-< so why does the game need it??? Surely the game knows where the start and end of a piece of track is so that you could lay one point(switch/turnout)to create an unlimited variation of points (switches/turnouts) such as 3-way, obviously the track might look a bit odd, but hey if you lay two bits of straight track to make a crossing, you don't get to see it for very long as you hurtle over it at 80mph (Hmmmmm I travel in imperial scale over track that is in metric scale )
I don't believe for one second that the routes that come with the game were done with something more primative than the editor, and they certainly didn't use their Route Geometry Extractor!!! (the RGE wins my award for most useless bit of program known to man!!!)
Any upgrades/add-ons (this includes so-called expansion packs(another name for the real version and not the one you payed good money for you sucker) but then it's the same old story, M$ release something that isn't complete) to this rushed out game should be free. All in all I think M$ should ship out complete manuals and totally working versions (ie all the stuff is available and not having to rely on poor Jim to sort out) to people who have bought the game in good faith expecting, it's as if they've sold you a car that has no seats in it I'm off to finish my gripe water now..... Oct-01-01, 11:52 PM (EST) 9. "RE: Do You have corrected "TSECTION.DAT" File ???" So how long before Trian Simulator - the imperial measument expansion pack is out?? And will it be followed by Train Simulator II - The Dawn of the Diesels, which in turn will be closely followed by train Simulator II - Electrics?? Not forgetting Train Simulator Gold Pack (yes you to can re-buy the game again). Well, thats what they did with Age of Empires, and each time that game got better!!!!!! So here's to hoping they do the same for Train Simulator The game (can it be called a game?) itself is great, don't get me wrong, but it would have been better with a decent manual included with it, instead of leaving users to struggle with the meagre bits of information (what if some-one doesn't have internet connection, they would never find out about a lot of the things I have), and actually have got all the objects working! (mainly the turntable and slips). I'm sure they (or will it be Jim???) will manage it, so it's onwards and upwards on the route I'm building <now, what was it to convert 1: 74 into the required elevation?? multiply the degrees Saturn rotates by the sine of the butches and divide by a rabbit pulled from a hat ..........>
