LAST EDITED ON Aug-31-01 AT 11:19 AM (EST)LAST EDITED ON Aug-31-01 AT 11:17 AM (EST)Because of the way MSTS is currently designed. If you create one yourself the files come fromt the template folder and don't contain all the objects. In fact the MSTS routes don't contain all the objects, just those used in the route. There are some 2000 objects in the entire game. But I've gotten access to all the objects through the work of Jim Stevens and am using them. What you are seeing is a difference in setup between you and the route designer setup. As long as the route you download contains the ref and dat files used by the desinger, getting all the missing ace, sd and s files is just a matter of copying from existing routes. And you probably then ask why not include all the files. It's becuase of the size the zip. To resolve the error, start up explorer. The error will tell you where it expects to find the file and the file name. Find that file in one of the stock routes and copy it over. Then click yes and move on.

Then look for topics under him of combined objects or merge folder. Doesn't take that long, 10 minutes or so to get the merge folder. What you have to be careful with is the dat and ref files as they are the directories to everything. Before making a change, and this is in one of Jim readme's, rename the existing dat and ref files prior to putting in the new. If there is a problem, then just delete the new and restore the name of the originals. No damage will be done.David Klemm
