Aug-29-01, 02:37 PM (EST) "Need Help with Terrain Texture" Can anyone tell me how in the H@ll do you change the texture on the terrain tiles. I'll tried copy and paste ... nothin' I increased the tiling factor ... which changes the tile to a nice smooth green, but not to the one I had selected in the tile selector (us2farmland2). Thanks in Advance Bill Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

A little window is now open,in terrain select choose edit and bring in the texture(s) you want. They will now have a number next to them. Now select the button next to the I button, which is the terrain tool. Grids will show up in your window. Left click on one and after it is outlined in red, select the number of the tile you want. Then magic occurs and it's changed. : )

Aug-29-01, 03:44 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Need Help with Terrain Texture" From some experimenting I've done, that defines how many times the selected terrain pattern is inserted into any square in the tile. For example if you choose the texture that represents a road crossing the terrain, doubling the tile factor will place 2 half sized copies of that texture in the square; quadrupling the factor puts 4 even smaler copies in the square, etc. Be aware, though, that changing the tiling factor affects EVERY square in the tile.I used the above example to quickly create city streets.Regards,NickF Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-29-01, 03:50 PM (EST) 5. "RE: Need Help with Terrain Texture" Yes, the tiling factor does affect the looks of the tile. There are tiles of the US2 grouping that one quarter of the tile is one terrain and the other three quarters is another. For this example, let's say that snow is in the one quarter and forest is in the three quarters.I can't remember which, but if you set the tiling factor to 0.5 or 2, instead of one tile in the grid you will have four. So instead of one patch of snow, you will have four patches of snow. The instructions when you select tiling factor will make it plain which it is. And after all, you can just change it right back if you don't like it. So play around.Worse case scenario--just close the editor without saving the changes.Lawrence Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
