Aug-28-01, 10:51 PM (EST) "Clinchfield Route" Well, after obtaining full engineering data for the Clinchfield Railroad (now Kingsport and Blue Ridge Subs of CSX). I decided to re-focus my efforts to this route. Starting point Erwin TN south to Spartanburg SC. So I downloaded all the DEM files needed to get my to my first endpoint of Poplar NC. I already had good data, and even cabride video tapes of the whole route. So with no doubt, I think i have enough info to get a good start. So off I go. Created the terrain (looks great). So far I have terrain finished from Erwin to roughly half way to Spruce Pine. Then I created the marker files for the same area. Going great so far. I even managed to lay track from the south yard limit of Erwin yard, to Chestoa Road. Roughly 1 mile. I know I know, not to great of a track laying frenzy to brag about but its a start. So whats my point?? Mainly that this has been the best time I have had with the route editor so far. I guess just for the fact that I have accumulated sooo much data on the current route I am working on. Having really detailed info makes a world of difference. I cant wait till I get a chance tomorrow to work on it a little more. For once I have left the computer (after using the route editor) happy and satisfied with my efforts, instead of mad and disgusted. Well anyway, hopefully I will have a few screen shots of my track laying efforts down the Nolichucky Gorge. What a scenic route!!!!!!!!! Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
