Aug-27-01, 05:35 AM (EST) "zyx utility - UK and otherwise" The method to digitise maps have been developed and described by members of this forum.
If an error is made during the digitising process, or if one is not satisfied with the result in a particular area a restart, involving discarding data and rescanning has to be performed. It seems as a small utility with the ability to discard data in a xyz-file based on x and y values would be handy.
One would have to input the co-ordinates of the NW- and the SE-corner and the program would create a new xyz-file with a “hole” in the data.
MICRODEM does not appear to have such a function.Anyone interested in writing such a utility…..?/ Tommy Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-27-01, 09:45 AM (EST) 2. "RE: XYZ" I can't be certain this will work but you could first import all the data including errors using DEM-Ex. Then create a new xyz file by digitising just the areas screwed up first time around, now import this new xyz file using Dem-Ex. It should just over-write the relevant areas and keep everything else untouched.Paul

Aug-27-01, 10:25 AM (EST) 3. "RE: XYZ" I assumed that DEMEX would update the whole TILE (think I remember seeing that on the Forum?), thus to be successful I further assumed that I needed to redo the whole TILE. Could I be talking about a previous version of DEMEX? Have any one tried this? Time permitting I am giving it a try later in the week.

"RE: zyx utility - UK and otherwise" LAST EDITED ON Aug-28-01 AT 05:55 AM (EST)The real problem is that MicroDEM was notr really designed to allow people to do contour digitizing easily. I have been looking for suitable tools, but they are generally VERY expensive. So, I've started to write my own tools.I have already mentioned what I intend to do in another post (http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/1383.html), and I suggest people read this.ToeKnee.
