Aug-26-01, 06:11 AM (EST) "New signal-configuration for the NEC" Hi everybody!I have completely replaced all signals in the NEC-route with newly configured AMTRAK-signals. That allows much more density of traffic because 1. the distance between two signals is not more than two miles;2. you don't have to run several blocks with low speed because of a STOP aspect somewhere ahead. Every signal shows it's STOP or CLEAR aspect as well as the aspect of the next one (distance signal).Another thing is that you won't be suprised to see a "limited approach" aspect just in front of you with no time to slow down your train in time. It happened to me very often and I was fed up getting the emergency break...If I get enough replies, I will upload the new configuration of the NEC!Bye for now! Aug-26-01, 06:09 PM (EST) 9. "RE: New signal-configuration for the NEC" sorry, jerseycentral!yes, the configuration is taken from real-life signal configurations as they are in many countries!
because I don't have a clue how to build REAL signals in 3D Max, I put the lights on the AMTRAK 14 LIGHTS signals from MSTS.If there is somebody who will create real-life signals from pictures for me, I will place them onto the route...Bye for now!Snake Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-26-01, 07:14 PM (EST) 10. "RE: New signal-configuration for the NEC" The following diagram illustrates what NEC signals look like in general with all aspects lit. Note: there are two heads or a single head and a marker. MSTS treats it as one head which is wrong.Message Areas - "New signal-configuration for the NEC" – image 2Fig. A is the interlocking (absolute) signalFig. B is the distant signal. A can be used at B if it has a center Lunar White marker.Fig. C Automatic block (interval) signal. The LW marker is lit when the signal is showing 'Stop and Proceed'Hank Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-26-01, 10:25 PM (EST) 11. "RE: New signal-configuration for the NEC" SignalMaster..you are well, the master. also, just to boost, some signals do not have colored aspects, also, when there is a diverging route signal the bottom head blinks the indication while the top head will show red (i would be scared if a diverging route and straight route showed green!) Aug-27-01, 07:40 AM (EST) 14. "RE: New signal-configuration for the NEC" Obsession is more like it. Your 'handle' honors that 'Big little Railroad', unfortunately, long forgotten. The NEC signals a a direct decendent of the off Pennsy position light signals which did not have color aspect. all lights on high signals were a pale yellow.Where Amtrak's DC to NYC mainline went to the color aspects, many of the other PRR lines that went to PC then Conrail kept the pale yellow signals and probably many still exist today.Flashing aspects are mostly limited speed indications. The same color arrangement not flashing is a medium speed indication. This generalization applies to the NEC signals as well as some other railroads.Hank Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
