Aug-26-01, 00:45 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Track Textures" ACLEANTRACK1.ACE is the ties and ballast, I think ACLEANTRACK2.ACE is the rails. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-26-01, 01:38 PM (EST) 5. "RE: Track Textures" Looks good so far JC. You should probably make every 6th or 8th tie longer on one end to support the third rail. Has anyone with a 3d program and experience getting objects into the sim attempted to make a 3rd rail object yet? Adding a 3rd rail to your nice track texture would look great.Cliff Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: Track Textures" yes..people have in fact, they wont distribute it though..i just realized something..my tieplates are set too-wide...probably because i used that texture in the techo-docs...shouldnt be too hard to correct...will also fix the 3rd rail thingy..also..Xacto...i saw your pic of an R-26/28 at the MSTS Transt site on MSN...NICE...now only if i would get the e-mail saying i was accepeted into the community Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-26-01, 04:55 PM (EST) 8. "RE: Track Textures" Everything looks good except maybe the concrete, it looks a bit too textured. Here's a generic dirty concrete texture, not sure if you can use it, but maybe it would work if you put the dirty strip in the center.
Here's the BMP version, no compression problems.http://www.erols.com/true2scale/concrete.bmpCliff Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-26-01, 06:01 PM (EST) 9. "RE: Track Textures" thanks...looks ALOT better than my concrete...though...using PRINTSCRN and compression problems made it look bad but in the route ediotr with textures quality all the way up it looks great! one thing however, the textures are MUCH larger than the stock MSTS ones..stupid faulty makeace.exe....Improved track with texture from Xacto:
Anything else?

Aug-27-01, 11:03 PM (EST) 11. "RE: Track Textures" ok...im doing a release by e-mail only for the .ACE files so if you need it just holler! this is so i dont have to pack it up and put in read-me's and stuff, plus i dont think the average user, nor route builder will even use this... Aug-28-01, 11:23 PM (EST) 14. "RE: Track Textures" Don't forget that the NYC Subways often have a trench, about 6 to 8 inches deep, in the concrete betweeh the rails for drainage. Every so often, there are also wire-mesh boxes over the drain holes, to keep trash out of the drain. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-30-01, 05:09 PM (EST) 16. "Interesting, but it doesn't always work..." ...in at least two specific cases:1.) The local tracks look like your texture, but ONLY in station. Between stations, and the entire unterground length of EXPRESS tracks are standard: black wooden ties on a dark grey gravel ballast.2.) What about the el tracks, such as the 7 train in Queens? Those are a wooden tressle design. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
