A closer look at the OLE infrastructure. These objects are courtesy of Anthony Bowden, BVE genius (have you used the Watford Junction - Milton Keynes route recently?). There are more updated Ridgeport Valley pics at http://mr-disco.com/ts_images/ - please visit if you can. Thanks to Anthony and to all those 3d authors who placed their great offerings at trainsimfiles.com Andy

Aug-26-01, 05:16 PM (EST) 2. "RE: 25kV - UK style" Hi, Can you tell me how you built these in a 3d program?
I'm currently constructing the gantries used on the LGV (TGV lines) in France, but I don't know yet how to construct these powerlines. For example:
How did you connect the catenary wires to the gantries?
How did you contruct the switches in the track?Peter Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-27-01, 08:42 AM (EST) 5. "RE: 25kV - UK style" The OHE objects in my route were not built by me, but by Anthony Bowden of WJ-MKC (BVE route) fame. I can't take any responsibility for a release date without Anthony's say-so...they're the result of his hard work, and I've just been the lucky beta-tester after all Ridgeport Valley was going so well until I had a db corruption last night. I've lost a week's work, including all the electrification, the newly constructed depot chord (and depot!), all sorts of other goodies. It won't be released for a while now due to forthcoming Cisco exams which will take up a chunk of my time. Sorry Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Oct-18-01, 06:39 PM (EST) 11. "RE: 25kV - UK style" I still intend on releasing this route, although don't expect any serious work on it after December when my Trainz package arrives from Oz ;) Might be able to give this more time now that my Cisco exams have finished for a month or two.Hopefully I will have an update on the gantry release situation within a much shorter space of time. Don't turn that dial! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-26-01, 02:24 PM (EST) 16. "RE: 25kV - UK style" There's lots of gantries available now... BUT I have not seen or found the *realistic* catenaries shown in the pictures above. Assume they are hand placed 3D objects? How do you handle curves?Anyone using these files? Are they available? Are there others? Really hate that stock MSTS single wire..... Nov-26-01, 02:38 PM (EST) 17. "RE: 25kV - UK style" Also usable on the NEC lines east above New Haven as that is the new 25/50kv 60hz constant tension wiring installed here in the states.... My guess is that as they redo wires on the NEC and any new electrification (Ca.'s long awaited HSR initiative) this is them.....

Nov-26-01, 03:11 PM (EST) 18. "RE: 25kV - UK style" My problem is the opposite to all of you..I only run steam and the gantries spoil my "realism" (if I need electric I just change the properties in route editor..)
Does anyone know of an elegant way to make them vanish...something to do with transparent textures!!!??? I haven't the first clue about paint type programs.
Thanks for any info.

Nov-26-01, 03:19 PM (EST) 19. "RE: 25kV - UK style" Start hunting around the Route Editor/Builder forum here and the file library... It seems to me that some one did indeed find a way to bury the wires between the rails at ground level.... so you could run electrics occaisionally and steam/diesel the rest of the time!

Nov-27-01, 03:23 PM (EST) 20. "RE: 25kV - UK style" Hi, There is a utility called "gantries be gone" which you can find on http://www.trainsimfiles.net/
i have not used it so I have no idea what it actually does , whether it works on 1 route or all routes. It sounds like what you are after so give it a whirl - but remember to backup your files first!
Cheers,
