Reading Topic #13190
Hello, before I have been able to use the RGE perfectly. Today, I tried to create a route but when I try to generate the tiles I get a error message: Failed to create terrain tile -07072208, and then a error message for every tile I have selected. I have read every tutorial I could find on generating a route but I haven’t found an answer to this. Thanks in advance,

Hi Jackjust a wild shot here: Do you have the folder ../train simulator/template in place? This is where MSTS copies the basic folder architecture and .dat files from when setting up a new route, including the default terrain.ace texture for the tiles. I ask this because I've repeatedly heard of users deleting the template folder, thinking it has no use and just eats up HD space. Your type of error message could indicate that the problem lies there...Lukas a.k.a Swissie

Hi Lukas, nope that’s not it because the template file is there, with everything in it and it has the correct file extension too. Also earlier the same day I tried to make a mini MSTS install but I only copied the main MSTS folder and didn't delete anything from it. I don't think that caused anything to go wrong though. Jack

Hi Jack,well, it was just a wild shot - and some pitfall I experienced myself a while ago when I made the mistake of deleting that entire folder on my laptop in a vain attempt to save some disc space I only realized what it was good for when I downloaded the next route and the installer failed to copy a lot of stuff from the template folder (such as activites, services, traffic folders, all of the EnvFiles including their textures, ingame.sms and so on).Lukas a.k.a Swissie

Hi Lukas, at least it was an idea to try. I tried all of the editors to see if they were all fried but RE and AE worked, so I am officially stumped now. Jack
