Aug-22-01, 02:14 PM (EST) "Problem with new route." i am in the process of making a route. i finished laying the track for my first yard and now i am trying to run the route to see what it looks like so far. at this one paticular spot either my computer locks up or trainsim crashes and wants to send an error log to microsoft. i looked over the route in the route editor and everything looks good. the same thing happend when i downloaded another route from train-sim.com. (i haven't had time to download the newer version of the route yet.)Nighthawk1

Aug-22-01, 04:15 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Problem with new route." I can't take 8mb... what you do is delete the textures folder, and the terrtex folder, and the shapes folder, then send it to me.. my email address is in the readme of the Chicago Elevated Railway download. Aug-22-01, 07:36 PM (EST) 7. "RE: Problem with new route." LAST EDITED ON Aug-22-01 AT 07:37 PM (EST)The only times that I have seen a red pole like that is when there is a switch involved. Could you have a switch buried under that piece of rail or somehow connected there? Hope that helps some...I'm still learning things myself... Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-22-01, 07:56 PM (EST) 8. "RE: Problem with new route." all of my switches have that red pole. i checked them all for buried trach and made sure that they were connected properly.
i noticed all the other routes have the same red marker and i have no problem with them.nighthawk1

it is not exact but pretty close to the yard in town about 3 miles from here. i haven't found any buildings in the route editor to place yet but am still looking into that.nighthawk1

Aug-23-01, 12:35 PM (EST) 11. "RE: Problem with new route." I can't really tell because it's at the far end of the yard, but have you created a wye there? I've found from experience that wyes can cause the lockup problem you described above. I can create 2 identical wyes in two different locations, and one will work fine, while the other will crash the system when you set a switch into it, or to a track that connects to it. Haven't found a cure yet. Sometimes I can make it work after removal and reinstallation; sometimes I can't. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-23-01, 12:41 PM (EST) 12. "RE: Problem with new route." Make sure you hav no open junctions e.g. a switch at the end of a track section. Could you post a route map from the activity editor? Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-23-01, 01:51 PM (EST) 13. "RE: Problem with new route." here is the yard map. i was finally able to set a path on the mainline and the problem area seemed to go away. i am still testing it. only thing is on the wye one side is just a little short to match. still working on that too. Aug-24-01, 08:28 AM (EST) 17. "RE: Problem with new route." You have to import them in the ref file too. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-24-01, 09:18 AM (EST) 19. "RE: Problem with new route." Yes, you must import the REF file from the route you are transferring to your own route file and rename it to match your route's file name. That should cause all the objects you have transferred to show up in the editor when you are ready to start.

Aug-24-01, 09:16 AM (EST) 18. "RE: Problem with new route." Bulls eye. It seems to depend i(in my experience) on WHERE you place things. Several times I have received the error message telling me to move a marker or signal to another position to correct the error and it has worked just fine. Haven't tried installing a Wye yet but I'm sure I'll encounter some more error messages. Wouldn't it be great if someone could write a program to make the turntable functional????
