I have recently been looking at videos of two routes that would be interesting to have modeled: The White Pass & Yukon route from Skagway, Alaska to Whitehorse, Canada and Mexico's Copper Canyon RR.
I've never ridden the Copper Canyon route, but the videos of it look impressive. I rode the White Pass route about 35 years ago when it was operating all the way between Whitehorse and Skagway and still hauling freight and some copper ore (the road to Skagway wasn't finished at that time). It was a beautiful ride - a mixed train of freight cars, passenger coaches and flat cars with people's cars, trailers and motor homes strapped to them. Both of these would make interesting MSTS routes. From Revelation Video's new CD, it appears that the present summertime tourist activity on the White Pass involves both narrow-gauge diesel and steam locomotives and several trains a day between Skagway and the top of the pass (unfortunately they are no longer operating all the way to Whitehorse, but this may come again in the future). The Copper Canyon route involves luxury tourist trains and I presume also some freight activity. Hope to see these as MSTS routes someday. Dick Williams

RE: Whitepass & Copper Canyon route?

I don't know about Copper Canyon, but I do agree on White Pass, I think that at least some coaches, #73, one GE and one Alco should be modeled. The route is pretty difficult to build (learned this from experience, I'm on my third try), but it should be built too. I'd help in any way someone wanted to build that route or that rolling stock.Incidentally, the shovel nose is tough to build too. But there I'm on my fourth try.

Dick, The Copper Canyon is in the file library, it was erroneously named "Cooper River & Northwestern" (omit the quotes.) I had notified the author. MSTS Route--Cooper River & Northwestern< Download | View>

RE: Whitepass & Copper Canyon route?

When the Cooper River route is the same as the Copper Canyon route, I will eat my shoe's. First is the Cooper river route placed in Alaska and the Copper canyon route in Mexico. Second, there is nothing Mexican in the Cooper River route, also the buildings looks very Alaska style!!!But still I also hope that they will make the real Copper Canyon route for MSTS. It is one of the most impressive railroad route of the world. The canyon is much bigger and deeper than the Grand Canyon and is for everyone who visit Northern Mexico a "must see". Or does anyone know already if they are creating this spectacular route already, and where I can see the information about the creation???VINCENT
