I took some time off of building the route to run a train or two. These shots are between Gato and just east of Juanita.Running east along the San Juan River, just about to the triple span that crosses over onto the left bank of the San Juan:

In the background, the Navajo is emptying into the San Juan, with both of them rolling on toward the Colorado, the Grand Canyon, and the Golfo de California. With Trujillo Road heading up the hill in the background, it's pretty hard to avoid noticing the strong Spanish influence in these parts:

A few more trees have been placed here compared to the earlier shots, but that will change as the vegetation crews head on west in the next several days:

Groovy! That is another thing I love about that area other than the dry climate, beautiful weather, pretty clouds, is the nice blue sky's. I NEVER get to see sky's like that in Nebraska. Gotta love the blue sky's.Kevin Bush

Looking good! I'm still trying to fix my route, I mean your route, or ....ah what ever. Are those cars ones you made, or are the Jonathan Lewis'?Here's something I've been thinking about, what if I finished my route, and we combined them! Then it would be Antonito-Durango! The only problem I see in that would be,the route would be one mother of a file. probly over 50MB!DRGW489

The boxcars are repaints of Jonathan's originals, using textures I took of cars in Chama this spring. Howard Saunders took my textures and did the repaints. The flats are from the Sumpter Valley route, again with textures from Chama. None of them have been uploaded yet.I don't think it would really add much to the operation of the sim to combine the two routes, and it would definitely create more problems. The size would be huge - more like 1 GB than 50 MB. Realistic operations would have you stop in Chama anyway, and since the two routes will have nearly identical versions of the town and yard, it doesn't really add much to combine the two. Much better just to stop playing at Chama, load the Durango route, and then play on. If you're really running from Antonito to Durango, it's probably going to take you about 8 hours at realistic speeds. You'll need a break in Chama anyway!Andy

RE: Time off to watch the trains head to Chama from Dur

I took the Sumpter Valley flats and added a rail to them. You know, how the Grande added rails to them for support to keep them from bowing up in the middle so much...which they always did anyway...they just slowly bent the rail. All the rail did was slow the process down! I basically just turned it into an idler flat, and worked on my old Pipe gon to make that more correct. Using drawings of course!Take care fellas,
Kevin Bush

RE: Time off to watch the trains head to Chama from Dur

And why haven't you released them? Is there anything else you done and haven't told us about? I did that Reefer and boxcar! I'm trying to do a reefer with Jonathan's new boxcars, but it comes out like....You get the picture. My biggest problem I have now is, I'm into Narrow Gauge, and my dad's in the Mainline stuff now. So when I create a consist, I Some times have a K-36 a few boxcars, gondolas, and a BNSF grain car behind them.!.Back to the subject, Kevin, release them cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!If you or anyone wants photo textures, I'll be spening the days after X-Mas with my Grandma in Antonito, since this will be her first X-Mas alone.DRGW489 My repaints to be released with route. Except Reefer. Already released.
