I'm using a 1935 curve/gradient chart to build a skeleton route before adding scenery. It shows radius in chains but it also indicates approximately where the curve starts and ends, the first curve i'm trying to build has a 36 chain radius over around 480 metres, how do I calculate the degrees/sharpness of the curve? thx
I don't know if I got it right, but afaik 1 chain = 22 yards = 20.1168m. your radius is 36 * 20.1168m = approx 724m.(724m*2*pi) / 480m = 9.4795 degrees -> approx 10 degrees
