Is it possible to make forests of cars or houses? I would like to fill up parking lots and fill a hillside with houses without using scores of objects. I tried adding lines in the forest data file and got forests of things with vehicle textures but they were shaped like the two-dimensional trees.
The forest objects appear to be placed at random in a given area. Might be ok for houses at a distance but still difficult to control. Useless for cars in a parking lot. Will look terrible due to the fixed X poly design. The design is hard coded to MSTSBest bet is to create as a object a parking lot with cars already placed. There are some pre made blocks of houses in the forum library. Some default houses are set as groups for hillside use. Also, for the distance you can use billboard houses. (2-D ones.) Some of my houses are just lo poly boxes designed for distance viewing and have light in the windows at night - no night texture required. As all my houses and house trailers share the same basic set of textures, you can mix and match as needed.SRV Ron
Thanks. I had succesfully added a couple of lines to the forest data for vegetation and thought, "Why not cars and houses?" I'm using some of the suburban blocks in flat areas, but in populating a few hillsides with homes I crashed the Route Editor a couple of times because I went over the object limit without knowing it (easy to do when pasting rows of eight townhomes). I don't have 3D Canvas or TSM yet and never succeeded in making anything with Gmax despite struggling through several tutorials. By and by I will try to get 3D Canvas or TSM.
