I have been working on and off on a new route. Compared to the last one I did, on a computer with only 128 mb RAM, my new computer with a gig of RAM was working like a charm...I could do route-building for hours on end, with other programs active and no crashes. . . until the last couple of weeks. Now my camera is causing S/DS when I elevate it and try to look down. It is more likely to happen when I move the camera too fast. The only thing changed is that, about the time the problem started, I had just installed RR 6.1.33, but I can't conceive of how or why that should have anything to do with it. Any thoughts about why camera movement should suddenly start causing crashes after literally months of no RE issues at all?
I suspect the problem relates to the one that I am having periodically with the RMD-4. You have essentially completed the route, there is a fair density of objects on at least some tiles. Now you someway or another get to a desired location, and try to rotate, zoom in, etc. Then the S/DS message. Reason is that too much data is being loaded from the tile you are working on, and perhaps all 8 adjacent tiles. When this happens to me, I find that rebooting, then, kill any unnecessary background tasks, then go to train-sim, go to the location, and then avoid any FAST movements. I run into this when, for example, I am working in a cluster of tiles, each with 300-400 objects, and I am trying to place a simple whistle post. Frustrating, but the good news is that the crash does not seem to affect the work in progress. Oh, do frequent saves. When I know that I may have this problem, I save after each placement to avoid loss of work. When this crash occurs, anything not saved is lost, but anything saved is not affected.J. H.
