Aug-21-01, 07:53 AM (EST) 1. "RE: Wheres all the objects!!!???" When copying shapes from other routes you must also copy the REF file from that route to your new route. First delete the ref file in your new route and rename the file of the route you have copied. Remember you must copy SHAPES, TEXTURES, TERRAIN AND SOUNDS if you want all these to function properly in your new route. Good luck. I'm not sure about copying all routes so be timid and start with the ONE you like best at first (USA1, Europe2, etc.).
Good luck. Joe Cooney, Ocala, FL Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Aug-21-01, 08:33 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Wheres all the objects!!!???" Thats what I did, I only copied US2. Well, anyway, its too late now I have to restart. I got pissed and deleted my route and the files I'd copied to it. This route editor just makes me pull my hair out. I'll save what you replied on notepad and try it again in a few days. Right now I'm just gonna stick with modeling my new super tanker. I couldn't ever figure out the terrain editing anyway, I'd try to make a simple brigde but when I raised the terrian all it did was turn up uneven all over the place and make my road look crapy on it. and when I moved the mouse anywhere near it it completely distorted the whole damn hill. Aug-21-01, 08:50 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Wheres all the objects!!!???" Which combined objects ref file are you using? The one from over a month ago or the one yesterday from Jim? The one from a month ago required you to copy all shapes, textures to the new route and change the name of the ref file from combined.ref to routename.ref. The ref file is what allows you to see the objects, that is the index to the game. Also, don't delete and reinstall. There is no need. I've never deleted and reinstalled the game and I have put in many of the addons and it is simply a need to delete folders or files.David Klemm

Aug-21-01, 09:41 AM (EST) 4. "RE: Wheres all the objects!!!???" I'm guessing what he did was he must've tried to just copy the objects of one route into his new route and tried renaming the ref file. It sounds like he's using the earlier version of REF where you copied all the objects of the six default routes into your new route. With building a supertanker and all, that's got to take a huge amount of time. Other than new skins for engines, we're seeing new engines come out as fast as new routes, must be a pretty lengthy process to create a new engine. So to be trying to do both, must be incredibly time consuming. Ya gotta feel for the guy trying to do both! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
