Having been tired of seeing the "other" church building on my testing route for sometime now, and in light of the fact that Thanksgiving is just around the corner, I've finally gotten around to building a US rural parish church.Based on an actual building in rural California, the style of the building is "generic" enough for the model to be used in other western US rural scenes. The model is built in GMAX and features 3 levels of LODs. At the closest level, the polycount is in the high 200s, but reduces to only 15 polys beyond 250 meters. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy it, and do please post a note to let me know what you think of the model. The model is available from my web site.BTW, is there any interest in other US "home town" subjects? Examples being small town cinema, general store or garage/gas station?
Thanks:

Very nice, and love the night lighting. I think there would be high useage of any 'home-town' buildings you might see fit to create and share. I know I'd be grateful and I'm sure many others would be also RobertR .. ADF-M&RM at http://www.adfrr.com

Yes! Yes! I love it!I also like the poly count. Make more- maybe some western houses, general stores, etc. Your textures are very good- too often I see bright red brick and flat brown-colored wood, but your textures are excellent. And it's very detailed for the polys. So many buildings have less detail but more polygons because the maker is inefficient. But if I ever get around to building another fantasy route, your buildings look like they'll be the first ones added.jlef

RE: US Rural Church

My dad's side of the family has been buried in Maria's Creek cemetery near Bicknell Indiana for the last 180 years, and the ancient church is still in use today. If your church model were wood,it would be an exact copy of that church!.Indeed, your church model is a much needed and "generic" addition to this hobby!.Thank you..

SeanBTW, is there any interest in other US "home town" subjects? Examples being small town cinema, general store or garage/gas station?Heck yes, small town America is a wide and diverse area of subjects that are needed particularly when you also figure in different time eras.
Check some of the small town stuff I(Gary Sprandel)and Don Brynelsen have done as to avoid duplication of effort and or design styles but the more the merrier.Gary S

RE: US Rural Church

OK then ... my mission is set for 2005, Project Hometown USA is now officially underway. Actually, I've been thinking about this for awhile, and given my current time constraints, this is a good way to go with regards my modeling activities and simply, I do not have the time to focus on locomotives like I use to, and small town buildings are good "several evening" projects that still retains a good challenge in terms of required quality.Thank you all for your continuing support.
