I am attemptimg to do the River Line. Trying to make markers and see how they come out on the RE. I will have to bring my video camera along soon and film the line and take some pictures. Would like to learn how to create custom buildings with the 3d and the skinning stuff. I am planning to do from CP FB through CP SK and all the way down to Oak Island Yard through CP Valley (and including Port Newark/PNCT) and end it there. No promises but I will commit aqs much time as I can.

RE: CSX Boston Line?

I don't know about that region although I stayed in Worcester for short time for a job. I might have an interest when I finish the NS Atlanta/Macon/Chattanooga line (i.e. hopefully RE will not destroy it)
It seems like the area you are speaking of has lots of yards and industries.? Jones..

RE: CSX Boston Line?

A good tool on the B&A line is railroad video head end rides. Do a net search and you will find them. The head end tape for the B&A goes from Springfeild to Boston South Station. Now it was made in 1986 or so BUT much of the line remains as it is today. These head end vids can be used for anyone developing a route as a tool for development.BobFlorida Railfan Page

RE: CSX Boston Line?

I'd like to see this line modeled too, but to do the whole line is a big project.I think this route is at least 180 miles long, so it would take some time to place all the track. Then you have Boston, a large city, which would take even more time to make even with the track in place.Bottom line is the route would have to be made by someone who really likes the Boston Line, and is willing to put a lot of time into making it for MSTS.

Modeling CSX, Metro North(ex CR, PC, NYC) Hudson Line, West Albany to New York Penn Station, 150 miles.
Mainline 100% complete.

Berkshire Sub would be easier to do. From there you really dont have any big cities besides West Springfield Yard. A little bit of Westfield then its pretty much forest and a moutain grade from there until you come into Pittsfield. Then Chatham and Selkirk.Ryan

Pittsfield's pretty rough city wise. There's alot of buildings right around the Amtrak Station and the bridge under route 7. I would love to do this route but I can't figure anything out about the RE.

RE: CSX Boston Line?

that could be fun concidering Selkirk yard is in the middle of that, and now that iv'e moved to Cleveland OH remembering the route would take a few cab ride trips with a freind to refresh my memory. When i Get used to the RE my first designed route will be the Conrail line from Buffalo NY to Collinwood YD and West to Brea.

The Idiot's Guide to Extracting A New Route
by Jim "Sniper" Ward This is the best source of route building info that I ever ran across. However, I'm not really sure where Sniper had it posted. I'm going to say "Steam 4 Me', but don't hold me to that.Excellent info though. There is also a tutorial regarding Demex and use of same. I found this to be a great source as well, but damn if I can find where I stored the link. You could probably google-it.Hope this helps.Have a sparkling day,
Bob
