I just wanted to see if someone was making this project because I'm not big into making these rail projects and I give a lot of credit to those that make them. You guys are awesome. But is anyone at least making a Philly to NY or Trenton to Boston line? I ask this because even though I am 18, I used to work in NYC and I took that train from princeton junction to NY Penn everyday and I thought it'd be a lot of fun to try it out in the game. I know it would be difficult to make it from Washington to Boston since its sucha long line. Thanks.
I know I have seen several posts over the years with MSTS saying this route was under construction. I don't know if it's gotten in the way of ongoing projects on this line or not, but there is a Great White Void line running east-west between Philadelphia and NYC, and more than one route project has been abandoned because of this MSTS bug. If you haven't heard of the GWV, do a search in this forum and look at the MSTS FAQ linked below for more info. I must have the GWV virus, as three of the five route projects I have started have encountered GWV lines. Of course, most of those projects were in north Florida, and there is an intersection of E-W and N-S GWV lines just about over Valdosta GA, both impacting north FL pretty seriously.
I am currently working on an extension to New York's Penn Station. Right now I am north east of Trenton, NJ and I still have not encountered the Great White Void. So far I am counting myself lucky. Even if I do encounter it, I am still planning on continuing the route however since from what I have read on the forums, if you save the game, exit and then reload it the game will load the scenery for the rest of your trip. For me, this is a minor inconvenience for a good route. I am currently doing student teaching as well as taking a class in order to finish my certification and graduate program, so it is progressing slowly. But since I am north east of Trenton, it is progressing. I am also extending it west to connect with the Middle Division route that was released a while ago. My progress west is to around the King Of Prussia area since I have been focusing on the NEC to NY. I will probably be posting more info when my trackwork is closer to being completed and when I have more time once my classes are finished in mid December. Thank you for your interest in the route extension of the NECv4, George.
Go GeorgeThis extension would be a welcome addition to NEC4. Since Amtrak posts the Metroliner from NY to DC, this is a natural. Once we have a stable copy of MBTA, I am going to try to extend this route from Providence to New London. (New to this route building stuff and as I remember this is mostly a straight fast run until the turn along the coast.)Good luck
Well…, for what it’s worth.., I’ve started Springfield to New Haven. But I have to admit, I’ve been rather slow about it lately. The plan is to run from downtown Springfield through Windsor Locks, Windsor, Hartford, Meriden, Wallingford, Cedar Hill, New Haven and terminating in East Haven. Just past the New Haven Terminal and Yard.Easier said than done. Cedar Hill and New Haven are going to be monumental projects unto themselves. I think that’s partly why I’ve slowed down. But a renewed spark of interest has been brewing within me lately. There is still hopeHave a sparkling day. Bob
