TsUtil/Route Riter Changing Route Altitude – image 1

I have been trying to raise the height of the Silverton route to try and copy Durango over from the Silverton route (The terrain on the Silverton route has been lowered by 1000 meters and I have not lowered the terrain on my RGS route) into my Route Grande Southern Route. In the Route Riter I have tried using the Change Route Altitude option under TsUtil but got nowhere. I put in what I want to raise the route when it asked me by but after opening it in the RE it is no different.Can someone please help me out here...Thanks

RE: TsUtil/Route Riter Changing Route Altitude

Jonathan,RouteRiter things started working well for me again (Win XP, SP2) when I installed these two files: "RRit_6_0_05full.zip" and "RRit_6_1_26exe.zip". I think I got them from the Australian Steam4Me site. After you install the 6.1.26 update, run the "InitTokens.bat" in the RouteRiter folder.

I don't have Silverton v1.0 installed any more; I'm up to about v1.5, but I just raised it 1000 meters (verified in the RE). If 6.1.26 is really working, you get to watch all the progress go by in RouteRiter. About four carspawner problems that I didn't take time to worry out, but that's no problem for what you want to do. When I ran the route, I noticed that Distant Mountains didn't come along (pukey views!); again, no problem for you.A real problem though is the hi-altitude delayed terrain popup; pretty bad. But if we can do one route this way, we can do the other. I really recommend that you try to drop the RGS (which has the same problem). I'll load the current RGS back on and do some experiments there too...regards,
charlie

RE: TsUtil/Route Riter Changing Route Altitude

I have neither of the routes, so can not help there, but when using any of the TsUtils in Route-Riter, make sure you run the Route Integrity Check option first. If the route fails this integrity check and you do not fix whatever problem occurs, then none of the other TsUtils options will work on that route.Mike

Charlie as you got it to work could you please e-mail me the .w files for Durango when raised 1000 meters. I may have a go at lowering all of my route by 1000 meters before it is released it was just I did'nt want to mess it up but if I messed the Silverton route up I just need to re-install it. Thanks for your help...

RE: TsUtil/Route Riter Changing Route Altitude

Jonathan,Yes, of course I can do that. I will need to spend a little time stripping out all the interactives; I even have an invisible signalling system in this version. I'll send enough files in the Durango area to cover at least 2 kilometers visibility in all directions.Despite the cryptic error messages I got on the carspawners and DM's, the conversion went OK and provided an operating route. I guess that I need to spend some more time worrying out what the TSUtil messages really mean. The DM's are just plain-jane lo_tiles generated in DEMEX.A note on where in the world Durango really is in the Silverton route. The thing was first DEMed with v0.6, back when merging was only possible in MicroDem. When DEMEX v1.0 was released, I did it again to shift the terrain to match markers generated by the old Convert3 (mif to mkr) utility, and I used my original merged DEM. The shifts are "North Offset: 8 m and East Offset: 56 m", and when I left this info in "DEMEX-notes.doc" in the route folder I wasn't clever enough to mention that it was with respect to the NAD27 datum.So if the RGS is NAD27, some hand-editing may be required to clear up the mismatch at the join. However, if the RGS is WGS84 datum, it will be somewhat worse. At Durango, MicroDem calculates the following shifts in moving from NAD27 to WGS84: West Offset: 50 m and North Offset: 207 m. So, given the present Durango position, you might then have a resulting offset of 199 too far south and 106 m too far east. regards,
charlie

Charlie,
If you could please e-mail me the world files for at least 2 kilometers visibility in all directions that would be great. Don't worry about the car carspawners as I can always remove them and re add them. I'm sure I can figure a way around the off set and it can't make that much of a difference. The sooner you send them the better as I am hoping to release the route in the next two weeks.Thanks

Do you want to lower everything you've placed on your route by 1000m? If so I have a solution in excel I can e-mail to you... something I've used on two routes to lift everything up a fixed distance.Send me a pm with your reply address and I'll send you the spreadsheet. Might not happen until Monday tho as I'm headed out of town in a few hours.Dave NelsonWP mainline, Oakland-Stockton: 100% complete;

RE: TsUtil/Route Riter Changing Route Altitude

Hi Dave,The Route-Riter/TsUtils option moves everything in the route up or down by the amount you specify with a single button click - Just providing that everything in the route is correct (tdb rebuilds OK etc) in the first place.Mike

RE: TsUtil/Route Riter Changing Route Altitude

Hello Mike,I was wondering if it was possible to only lower the altitude of a few tiles in RE and not the whole route. I have re-DEM my route with 10m seamless data from the old 30m stuff. Now all my track floats, with the exception of some of the outlying track that I have re-graded. Anyways, I would rather not like to rebuild a very large yard, but instead lower it by a few meters.Thanks,
