Hello!
I have one question. I was wondering, can you build another route to one of your existing ones when you open the route editor? For example, on Rollins Pass, in the Denver yard, could you add the line from Denver Colorado, to Longmont Colorado? I was just wondering. Thanks for your help! GO BUSH!!!!

RE: Question?

Despite the politicalization of even the Route Design Forum, I'll go ahead and answer your question. Yes, you can extend the route in the RE. But, it's not as simple as it seems. Adding track to a route that has mileposts, sidings, platforms, signals, crossings, fuel points, or other interactive objects will nearly always result in a corruption of the track database file. You should remove all those before doing any track work, and then replace them when you're done.Andy

RE: Question?

You already have the lead to Longmont, identified as Denver CB&Q from Montana in the game, but it sure doesn't go very far. According to a 1928 CB&Q timetable (when there may have been more routes than today), there are 2 ways to get there from Burns Junction (Broomfield). One is straight north, and the other via Boulder. However, you would run out of terrain before getting to Westminster. The only way to have the required terrain is to get the DEM files and add them using DEMEX. Don't ask me how to add them or what issues you would have to deal with, because if I even knew that, I forgot.Although we have been well warned about adding track after inserting interactive objects in a route, I have never had a problem with that, although one certainly must remove those items that are on a stretch of track that is being worked on, including signal links to it. At least one other post supports this ability. For Version 4, I rebuilt much of metro Denver from the Denver depots up through Utah Junction yards, as well as Tabernash yards, replacing a lot of track and adding over 40 miles of track. It works fine as you know.If you are going to go ahead with this, which I do not recommend, back up the working route. Then backup regularly as you preceed.
