...dear friend as you know in Le Prese (Poschiavo, CH) the bernina bahn sheres the narrow passage of the village with the regional street: there are no semafores or carcrossings, since the traffic is quite small and cardrivers are responsible of security... ...unfortunately in MSTS cardrivers doesn't stop even in front of a train.. so in this anarchy i was obliged to put some laws...!! i've choosed to place the railway as in the real world on the street but with its own space outside the village, and then place a 2-carriages street for the narrow passage: here i've placed a hidden carcrossing that stops cars from sud until the train has passed the narrow passage...this is the core: to do this and make carspawner works fine, i had to modify the tsection.dat, these are the modification:
TrackShape ( 33441 FileName ( hwy2l2wnaStrt40m_Exit.s ) NumPaths ( 2 ) SectionIdx ( 4 -1.5 0 0 0 38103 39049 39048 38103 ) SectionIdx ( 4 1.5 0 0 0 38103 39049 39048 38103 ) RoadShape ( ) ) TrackShape ( 33442 FileName ( hwy2l2wnaStrt40m_Merge.s ) NumPaths ( 2 ) SectionIdx ( 4 -1.5 0 0 0 38103 39048 39049 38103 ) SectionIdx ( 4 1.5 0 0 0 38103 39048 39049 38103 ) RoadShape ( ) )please Steve Master can you modify it to newroads version 3.2 or add two entries in the tsection.dat with a different shapefile name to make my route shareable...? i hope yes... in the pics you can see the train coming from north, cars are allowed to pass, then it comes near, cars a re stopped, you just have to wait until the carriage is clear and then you can go into the narrow passage... thanks a lot, regards, max
Looks like you just need a 2-lane S-Turn for your route. I am at work right now but will see what I can do when I get home. StevenStandardized \global\tsection.dat file now at build #25. Tsection Inquiries: tsection@train-sim.com

@steven: sure, what i need is TWO simmetric 2-lane S-Turn, lenght 40m... let me know what you can do... as always, thank you so much... regards, max@swissie: your help is so precious, i would say that i know very well the bernina bahn, but i have to admit there's someone who know it even better...!! swissie where are you from...?! one more question: are the flashing lights you talk 'bout the two circles i can see just in front the first railcar...? thanks a lot, regards, max
Hello Max,> swissie where are you from...?! Actually from Zurich. But my girlfriend's family is of Cantone - which is 600m to the left on that road you see in front of the first motor. Explains a lot, doesn't it?The lights I ment are actually regular traffic signals for cars ("un fuoco"). They are situated along the mainroad, mounted on a L-shaped gantry either side of Le Prese, where the road enters the town. I looked through my fotos but didn't find one showing that traffic light (which might well be the only traffic lights in the entire valley, btw). When I'm down there for the next time in late September / early October, I will snap you a picture of the exact layout and have it scanned.Lukas a.k.a Swissie
...ahahahaha... yes yes this explains it clearly...!! ok, thank you so much for your help, if you can find a pic of them would be perfect... i could go there too, it's just four hour of car from milan... regards, max
Hi Max,yes, that looks right! Looks like you got the section to work the way it does in real life.Btw:>there are no semafores or carcrossings, since the traffic is quite small and cardrivers are responsible of security...Sorry, that's not 100% correct. There is a traffic signal for road traffic either side of the narrow section. As long as no train approaches, the lights just flash yellow. When a train approaches, then the traffic lights change to red and a RR crossing warning sign lights. Once the train is past the traffic light and safely established in the narrow section, the ligths revert to flashing yellow again, and motorists are allowed to follow the train. While inside the narrow stretch, all trains have a scheduled stop at the combined Post Office / Train Station of the small town - right in front of three of the four hotels catering for tourists. Of course, the depot is situated at the narrowest point of the entire passage... Small cars can pass the stopped train, trucks or mobile homes won't fit in and have to wait on the one remaining lane for the train to clear the depot (usual stopping time is 1 minute at the max.) Here's a real world shot of a train passing the church of Le Prese> cardrivers are responsible of securityMany a local motorist has had his or her "close encounter" already, not to speak of passing tourists. There is a number of side roads entering the main road within the critical area, and during the tourist season, 18 pairs of trains a day pass through Le Prese. Usually, thanks to the low speed limit applying (20 kph/12 mph), these encounters result in a "near miss" and maybe 2-3 hits a year. Accidents are rarely fatal - except for the bodies of the cars involved.Lukas a.k.a Swissie
