>Will it create a marker file for an area of your choice. Bruce,That's exactly what it's for, the catch being that USGS survey data for the route that you're interested in must already (or still) be in the MIF file supplied in Convert3.Another file, "rgefix.zip", claims to provide a better MIF file and a bigger vector file to replace the na_rail.vec (red squiggly track lines) in the RGE. The replacement MIF file works OK with Convert3, but I could not see any difference in the area I was working on.Although I say it works OK, there can be a few problems. I think that track spacings in yards and sidings is "styleized" in the MIF files, rather that being actual survey data. I finally realized that track spacing in the yard at Durango in my version of the Silverton Branch is simply wrong, wrong, wrong... Other than that, the markers follow the route very well.In the December 2001 time frame, we didn't have much else, and I was grateful for Convert3. It's certainly much quicker than doing it by hand in USAPhotoMaps. If your route is covered by the MIF file, you might generate a basic mkr file with Convert3 and then add refinements with USAPhotoMaps. DEMEX makes it a snap to append new markers to an existing mkr file.Convert3 markers look all alike; a railroad is a railroad. In areas served by several rail lines, you may have some difficulty in sorting out which tracks belong to which rail line.regards,
charlie
