I am attempting to get Jim Duncan's latest version of GM&O Lines (GMONEW) to function. I have to confess that I have had troubles with previous versions but am *determined* to get this latest incarnation running!Got all the files installed and *did* run the batch file. Took a loong time for the terrain buffers to install, but after that I had hopes. Alas, when I crank up MSTS the route shows up in the menu (that's a good thing) but when I attempt to select a consist and run the route I get the dreaded "Failed to save Activity File:Explorer.Act" message. MSTS then locks up on the "choose a consist and so on" screen. Crash. Rats. So, there seems to be a problem with a missing "Explorer.Act" file. Would be eternally (well, almost) grateful for any suggestions about this as I have heard good things about this route and would be pleased to get it up and running.Reagrds from an old SCL (yep, we did have 5 man crews) trainman,James

RE: GM&O Lines Ver. 1.75

Not sure if this is your problem, but I did need to re-initiate 'kosmos' to get this route to function. I do not remember the error message recieved before re- entering route into kosmos.

RE: GM&O Lines Ver. 1.75

Hmmmm... Is this only happening with 'explore route', or with every activity you select? And does it happen with other routes? When you startup the act, MSTS seems trying to save something, but it can't. If this happens with all routes, there could be a problem with you whole MSTS install.
Because I don't know the route nor the activities, It could also be an activity on the route. Check the ...\train simulator\routes\routename\activities folder, and look if the file explorer.act is somewhere in it.
If the file is there, try to open it in AE, and try to solve it.I don't know the details about this, maybe explorer.act is some kind of file MSTS creates when starting an act, just to save things in, and in that case you've got a real problem...Please be a bit more detailed about the selection. Do you chose 'explore route' or another activity?Good luck with it!Regards,René-----------------------------

James, it sounds like you are 'missing' the Activity folder. MSTS even uses the folder for explore route, I believe, and this would be one of the symptoms of the missing folder.RobertR .. ADF-M&RM at http://www.adfrr.com

RE: GM&O Lines Ver. 1.75

I do seem to be "missing" the activity file from the route. Strange. Is this something that someone could copy and send me? There are no activity options other than "explore route" and the sim crashes when I chose this. Don't know if I am missing other peices.....Were there a lot of activities that came with the route?Jamesj_starkey@comcast.net

RE: GM&O Lines Ver. 1.75

I got the bright idea of creating an empty "activities" folder to put in the route to see if I could fool MSTS. This did work to the extent that the route now loads ("establishing world space and content") about 80%. At that point I get two error messages:"Failed to load texture file": Routes\GMONEW\textures\Yellow Buffer.ace" and"Shape failed to load": A1tUS Buffer.s"Seems like several problems going on here. I wonder if I should re-download the route?James

RE: GM&O Lines Ver. 1.75

The activities folder was not sent with gm&o 1.75. I am currently using the activities from the previous version. Also there is an "activities developer pack" in the file library that may be helpful. The "yellow buffer" has been missing since ver 1.0. This evidently was not included in the batch file. Just seatch for the missing files in the route folder and COPY to the appropiate folder in GMONEW.

RE: GM&O Lines Ver. 1.75

I d/l'd and installed v1.75 - ran install.bat, then installed activity developer pack. Still get these:"Failed to load texture file": Routes\GMONEW\textures\Yellow Buffer.ace" and"Shape failed to load": A1tUS Buffer.s"Tested the zip file(s), not corrupted - cannot find the A1tUS Buffer.s file in any of the stock routes or in the zip file - what have I missed/done wrong?Bob

RE: GM&O Lines Ver. 1.75

You didn't read the various error threads....A1USBuffers is from any of the default routes BUT I used the buffers found in HOBART'S RRSTUFF.ZIP available in the file library. Same filename, different shape.Copy YELLOWBUFFER.ace over from any of the default routes. This is a KNOWN BUG in RouteRiter.JBD
