Colleagues,Detailing of Avery is progressing nicely, and I have used transfers and objects to "color" the railroad side-hill cuts almost all the way from Avery to St.Paul Pass. Truthfully, I should do the same with the haulage road on the opposite side of the river, but to do so, might push some video (like mine) beyond reasonable limits, so I will use them sparingly on the road.Crossovers existed (and do in the sim), east and west of the depot at Avery. This was so that when trains arrived in Avery, particularly passenger trains prior to 1963, when they ended, the power could be swapped during the brief station stop. So tonight, let us pretend we are on a eastbound diesel powered freight (light freight) coming into Avery (Truthfully it is a Little Joe, but-----).I believe the captions explain everything except the Forest Service Lead. This was built in 1942 by the USFS (or at their expense) so that other Forest Products companies besides PotLatch (I believe it was) could have access to rail shipment. The Haulage road (which I didn't include) and the lead (most of which I did) extended about 1 mile up the main fork of the St.Joe, and a small loadout facility was built there, which operated pretty much up until the end of the Milwaukee. Caveat -- This track was not electrified, so switching had to be done with a long cut of "idlers". I will place a sign at the limits of electrification on this line - which will be the last gantry that spans all tracks, just before the USFS bridge over the tracks & river. I was beginning to experience odd things laying roads (which for some reason always give more trouble than tracks), so I stopped.J. H. Sullivan

Jerry,It all looks great! You're really capturing the look of the Bitterroots! During a trip home to Montana last week, I got some good/fun information on Dorsey, Idaho from a retired NP hoghead (based out of Missoula). Since I no longer have your direct e-mail address, please contact me off-line at clacey@hebervalleyrr.org. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.Craig Lacey
