Animation of Water Tanks – image 1

LAST EDITED ON Aug-05-04 AT 01:11 PM (EST)

I have been trying to create an animated water tank for my Rio Grande Southern Route but I have been having some odd results with the animation in MSTS then you press T. I tried it with 2 frames and it went down and would not go up again. I tried 8 frames and it gave me some even odder results. How many frames should it have and what frame should be where the spout is down and what frame should the spout be up again. Can someone please help me out here. Thanks

WOOHOO! Someone else does this, too! I like it when someone makes an animated fueling station- so many are water tower models that get the default water spout put in front.Anyhow, I've done this several times now. First, read the tech doc on MSTS Disc 1, "How to make a pickup object.doc". The most important parts follow:Make all of the non-moving parts one, called Main. Next, make sure the object's center (The origin (TSM) or pivot point (gmax) of main) is where the center of the track should be. Name anything that will move arm1, arm2, etc. Remember to keep it simple (no little moving ropes going from the pulley to the spout).Animation: USE 3 FRAMES, #0-2!Frame 0
Spout (arm1) in position it is normally inFrame 1
Spout in refuel positionFrame 2
Spout in same position as Frame 0If this still doesn't work, let me know, and I'll show one of my water tank models in the three positions.

Well, why don't you just call it good, and pretend every time you take water, the water spout pulley breaks, and it's stuck, so you leave...and continue on while the MOW crew comes along and fixes it later............thar you be ma' main man.Kevin Bush,

I will have my hand on the throttle of a K-36 very soon Mon Freunds!

GREAT! It looks very good! I like how it looks with the K-27.I'm building one right now which is very large, you might like it. It's somewhat similar to some Colorado prototypes, but it hasn't been textured yet. It "might" have something to do with a secret route I "might" be building which "might" feature an unconventional railroad.

Thanks,I think I might have an idea what the secret "might" be the **&* and the one that is very large might be a K-** as you said you were going to make one a while ago...Also the patch with replacement water towers is now in the FLhttp://groups.msn.com/MSTSNarrowGauge (Now being updated more oftern)

I was refering to the water tank being very large. After you said you might make a K-28 I decided not to and decided I'd try some E.B.T. Mikados (Oops, did I say that?), but the route that might be unconventional that I might be building might be higher up on my priority list.Edit: If you'd like to make a guess about what I'm doing, feel free post it here or private message me.As soon as I get permission from the people who own copyrights to the textures on the route I might be building, I might show some pictures.Edit Edit: If you ment WP&Y by **&*, it hasn't been touched for a while, besides for testing locomotive pulling power. Honestly .
