Hi all!
I'm having problems installing signals that work. All the signals I install are not lit when running the simulation. In the editor when placing a signal, I'm not able to link up the signal with a specific switch and I'm not getting a red pyramid on the rails as shown on other routes.
Am I missing something?Joe simerjoe@verizon.net

Both of these objects are US2bsignal2.s, the one on the left is an actual signal that comes from the sigcfg.dat file, tethered to the red marker on the track. That's a working signal since it has the track marker. The one on the right is the same shape, but not connected to any track marker, since it comes from the ref file instead of the sigcfg.dat file it's merely a static object, and not really a signal at all.
The signal on the left can't be linked to the switch at upper right, since it's facing the wrong way. Rotating around to face the other way, now it can be linked since the base of the red pyramid faces the switch. Assuming it is a linkable signal of course, this one being a BNSF interlocking we got past that hurdle. Now how to link it? Select it, and right click to bring up properties.
Selecting the signal tab, I get three link buttons that are greyed out. That's because there's nothing to link, so I click on the box next to Signal Head 2 to put a checkmark in it, now two of the link buttons come alive. Click the top link button, I get the window on the right, then click on the straight track beyond the switch to link that. next I click the bottom link button, and in the right hand "Link Signal Head" window I click on the curved track beyond the switch. I DO NOT click on "close" for that window, I click OK in the properties window to save the changes.Every signal set is different, if you're stealing a signal set from an existing route best way is to select a signal on that route and right click on it to see how the links are supposed to be set up. Copying the sigcfg.dat and sigscr.dat to the root of your route is obvious, but don't forget to copy the signal shapes and textures as well. Don't forget to hunt up the name of the guy who made the signals for your credits, worst trouble with stealing stuff from other routes instead of downloading the original package is keeping track of who did what. I stole some horses from the Seaview route yesterday since I couldn't get into UKtrainsim, fortunately Bill listed Terry Thornton as the author so all I gotta do is stick his name in my readme.
