Reading Topic #12295
Is it possible to change the textures for a forest region that is already in place on an existing route? I know that forest regions do not have .s or .sd files, but use a single texture to make a group of 2D trees. I would like to replace the default USDecidTree1 texture with one of the new textures by Trundra, but I am having no luck with getting it to work. Any Ideas?

First thing is copy the \World folder to a backup place, then use Route Riter to uncompress all the .w files if they're not already uncompressed. Then open each .w file in wordpad, edit, find, "forest", and when you find the one you want to replace, click and drag across the line;TreeTexture ( US2fir1.ace )After highlighting the line, hit CTRL and C. Now go back to the top of the page, click edit, replace, and CTRL and V to paste that line in both windows.
Edit the bottom window to the new ace file name, making sure you don't touch anything outside the parentheses to avoid m!$t@ke$.
Click on replace all, then save the .w file, open the next one, and repeat.

Simpler wayIf you want to replace ALL USDecidtree1 forests in a routeIn Folder TEXTURES
rename USDecidtree1.ace into USDecidtree1.bk for backup
Copy your tree texture new.ace to TEXTURES, rename into USDecidtree1.ace
If you like, do the same in subfolders SPRING SPRINGSNOW AUTUMN AUTUMNSNOW WINTER WINTERSNOW and SNOW (if it is there, too).You NEED to have a USDecidtree1.ace in all those, be it the old or new, or any other.Love and Peace
