Searched the Forum, didint find any problem like mine, so here it is:1. TDB fails Send/Dont Send 2. Any attempt to change ANYTHING in the tile where tdb fails, results in Send/Dont Send. (Tried backups over 8 nonths old - problem still there) 3. Looking at the tile after TDB fails shows all the tile stuff there (land contours, tertex and the white line above where the track used to be. All the World stuff (scenery, etc ) has gone.Looks like the only solution is to to somehow "re-initialize" that tile so that its flat and covered in terrain.ace. Then rebuild it. Question is.... how do I do that?.. or maybe its not possible.
It sounds like the crash could be associated with having too many objects on that tile. The number you can get away with depends largly on how much RAM your computer has. My PC originally had 128 MB and called home at about 800 objects. I upgraded to 384 MB and now can get up to about 1500 objects. Any attempt to edit or add an object results in the send/don't send message at every save attempt. I have two tiles in my route that I would desperately like to edit, but can't. You didn't mention if you got a vector - no vector message, which is a different problem. VNV is the most common problem with a TBD rebuild and you just have to trace down the place in the track causing the problem, usually right below the window when the crash occurs. I assume you know how to restore the lost objects by restoring your world file backup made during the save attempt in the world directory.Larry
Larry, Thanks for the info. The tile giving me problems did have the most objects of any tile, however, I do have 2G of RAM so that shouldnt be the problem. Anyway, having spent the last many hours playing with this thing, I made some progress by doing the following:1. Deleting the pieces of track that enter and exit the 'bad' tile.2. Running TDB... getting VNV3. Removing the piece of track under the window.4. Re-run TDB another 4 times, removing 4 more pieces of track in different places.5. Eventually get "All Tiles Visited".... Ta-da......However, the original tile that I couldnt update now just has the tile info - contours, etc. Other than that, its clean so I can start the task of rebuilding the tile.
Your problem depends on the number of objects. There seems to be some internal limit to the number of objects for the RE. As a rule of thumb more than 1000 objects needs to be avoided, more than 1500 is letal... But there is a workaround. You can edit the .w file manually. You have to look for the end of the tracks. Now the tricky thing starts. you can cut out an entire section of the .w -file and save it under a different name. Now the remaining file is likely small enough to be edited again with RE. Make your desired changes, save your work and now drop in the saved part of the tile and cut out another section. It will work, but be aware not to mix up watermarks, so it is best to sort the .w file by watermarks. And backup, backup, backup I don't know how far the limit can be stretched that way, but the sim itself can definitly handle much more objects in a tile as the RE. This is hopefully one of the bugs a (the) new TS will solve.Roman
If the tile is not full of everything, I would destroy all objects from it (at least tracks and roads), and then try the rebuild. Once I had to delete and re-generate the tile in the RGE, otherwise it didn't work. Luckily there was only one large yard which took ~10 hours to rebuild.
Thanks to all your help, I have fixed the problem. I went into the World tile and deleted everything from the last watermark to the end - leaving the final ) of course. All I lost were some pine trees and I can once again add/change/delete stuff in that tile. Thanks again.Derick
