RE: Sigview

You need to put the sigview.ace in the routes texture file (make a backup of the original just in case). Then open the sigcfg.dat file and change the radius's to 0.95 (orig is 0.11 x 8.67 = 0.95; this keeps the signals original size when you get close to it).As you make the radius changes note the names of the shape files that the signals use. (CPL2bridge.s, CPL2upperlunar.s, CPL3Head.s, CPLAbsolute.s, CPLbridge.s, CPLDwarf2Head.s, CPLDwarf3Head.s, CPLinterval.s)Now decompress each shape file (Route Riter) and search for the lod section (wordpad).
For example:
lod_controls ( 1
lod_control (
distance_levels_header ( 0 )
distance_levels ( 1
distance_level (
distance_level_header (
dlevel_selection ( 1000 )
hierarchy ( 4 -1 0 0 0 )
)The line you are looking for is the dlevel_selection. This is the distance that the signal is visible. (The sigview.ace only enlarges the size of the signal) The original files has this set at 500 (1/2km). I reset mine to 1000 (1km) which seems to work ok for me. You can set it longer or shorter to suit what you like. Re-compress the files (Route Riter).Don't forget to backup everything in case something doesn't go right.
Regards,Eric

RE: Sigview

Thanks Eric, But that`s not what I needed to know. The read ne that came with it said change the "Radius ( 0.1 ) <Or something like that> to (Radius 1.04). It also said, "Sandpatch may need another radius". The only problem is they never gave a radius for this route, Does anyone out there know the Radius? If you do please tell me. Thanks. Andy

I've done this on two routes so far - BNSF Sweetgrass 0.9 and NS East River District. I multiplied the original radius by 8 in both cases and came up pretty close. You should be able to do the same and get pretty close. Then just tweak the radius from there.Shawn

What about the dwarf signals? The way I read my sigcfg.dat, they've a radius of 0.045, not 0.11 as per the other signals. Do I still multiply 0.045 by 8.67?

RE: Sigview

You multiply EVERYTHING by 8.67, if the original signal radius is 0.001 it becomes 0.867, if it's 1000 it becomes 8670. Look at the signal update Jim Duncan has for the GM&O route, that has a whole bunch of oddball sized signal lights in it.

Thank you very much! I figured that the minute that I went through and changed all the dwarf signals or something, it would be wrong, and I would have wasted time and effort, or had a chance at bungling the route. 'preciate it!

RE: Sigview

You should also look at this;http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/12281.htmlDone by the "EDIT, REPLACE" method you can type "Radius ( 0.045 )" in the top box, then "Radius ( 0.39 )" in the bottom, click on the replace all button, then all the .045s are replaced at once, no chance that 61 of them will be perfect and 3 will have tYp!nG m!$t@kE$ in them. If it does turn out to be too small you can do the same thing, "EDIT, REPLACE", replace "Radius ( 0.39 )" with "Radius ( 0.41 )", replace all, done. Not only faster and more Murphy proof, it's also a lot less tedious."Progress is not made by ambitious, industrious people. Progress is made by lazy people looking for an easier way to do something."-Robert A Heinlein

I got Sandpatch working; wound up choosing '1600' as my visibility value. Given the bad visibility on that route, whether it works or not won't be a problem. Next up'll be converting the LS&I, NS ERD, NECv4, and some of the others. Got any numbers for them?At the same time, I wholeheartedly concur with Mr. Heinlein. The Prussians reportedly used to have a similar understanding about soldiers:The stupid and lazy had to be tolerated as a cost of doing business.
The stupid and industrious could be made into soldiers, but it would take some work.
The smart and industrious made good staff officers, because they'd work themselves into the ground.
The smart and lazy would be the field marshals, because they'd operate with an eye to doing something with as little effort as necessary.Any day now, I expect the Kaiser to deliver my appointment to the highest ranks of the Wehrmacht...

RE: Sigview

I have NS ERD done, but am currently not allowed to post it. The author would like to try to eliminate the clear boxes that form around the signals that make the forest regions disappear before it is posted as a signal patch.Does anyone know why the aforementioned anomaly happens? I just put an email in to MLT to see if they can explain it.Thanks!Shawn
