I've got really big problems with X-tracks. I have installed X-tracks 3.11 into my route and I have also installed the "xtracksr.zip" with all the textures.I went in to my route in the Route Editor and everything was working fine. All the track-shapes showed up, and I got no error-messages. (Or all the track-shapes I needed worked fine). The problem is that when I placed a DYNAMIC-TRACK piece, everything failed. The next time I tried to open the route, the famous Microsoft-error message showed up and I couldn't get into my route. Luckuly I took a back-up of my route so it isn't that much of a problem.Anyways, I can't get into my route because of a dynamic track-piece. What should I do? Anyone know? Help is REALLY appreaciated...

RE: X-tracks problems

Hi Homer,A) at first glance, it sounds like the changes to dyntrack and the route's tsection.dat being the cause for your problems. Before doing anything else, check that the tsection.dat in your route's folder (not the global one) did save properly. Occasionally, especially when your route gets crowded and memory becomes an issue, MSTS fails to properly save the tsection.dat and just ends up with an empty file (1KB), like it sometimes does with crowded world tiles. I'm speaking of a similar experience here, and have since learned to always jump into the white void to free up as much memory as possible before doing any crucial saves. You won't realise a corrupt save of the tsection.dat while your RE session lasts, because the information that was supposed to go into the tsection.dat is never released from memory during a session. Only once you have finished the session and want to re-load the route in any editor or the sim, MSTS discovers that it does not have any of the required info on dyntrack left, causing the send/don't sends.B) Otherwise, go to the route builder's kit for xtracks, "xtracksr" folder, and check for "Horace.exe" and associated instructions (the included file on installing xtracks, for instance). Problems with dyntrack references on previously non-xtrack routes can arise when you start adding xtracks at a later stage. Horace renumbers all dyntrack sections in the .w files and the routes' tsection.dat to avoid mix-ups. However, I found out the hard way that I better removed any interactive object before horacing a route...Lukas a.k.a Swissie

RE: X-tracks problems

I must own up here on something I did once, before I knew better, which was copying the GLOBAL Tsection.dat into the Route's Folder ! Hope that this is not what causes your problem and that you got a recent pre-Xtracks back-up of the route.O t t o

RE: X-tracks problems

If you're not starting a route from scratch with XTracks, you need to run Horace to get everything "aligned" in terms of the MSTS track section references. It's in the file library.Andy

RE: X-tracks problems

Well, I've tried running Horace, but it justs hangs. It says "reading installed routes" and "reading global/tsection.dat 'build 00025". And then it hangs up completely. So Horace doesn't seem to work proper. Anyways, do you think it will help if I remove all the dynamic-tracks from my route, then save it, and then add all the dynamic-tracks again to my route when Xtracks is installed? As Swissie said, I don't think I have so much problem with memory and stuff. The route is really small because I've almost just started it. I think maybe I have just 15 tiles or something...

Don't know if this is the case, but it can take a long time to read the new tsection.dat and it usually looks like Homer has died in the process, but is really working on it. I'm talking 15 - 20 minutes or more just to get started, depending on your machine. RobertR .. ADF-M&RM at http://www.adfrr.com

15-20 minutes? That's much! Well, my machine is a 2,4 Ghz with 256 MB DDR-SD RAM, 60 GB harddrive, with 21,5 left avilable.
How much time do you think it would take here? Also, I wonder if I have to put Horace in a spesific location at my harddrive? (Like in Microsoft games/train simulator etc.)But it looks like Homer has died because the machine says "Horace (doesn't answer)" in the window...

RE: X-tracks problems

Hi Homer,Horace does take a long time to read the tsection.dat, although I think I read in a post of Okrasa Ghia's a while ago that a new, faster version that would also include a status bar was in the planning. Still, with 1GB of RAM, I have it running for 5-6 minutes until it is through reading the global tsection.dat. During this time, I get the same error message when I try to click on it - but it is busy doing its job despite the message.Just keep it running for a while and do sth else (e.g. browsing the fora here). If it's still not done after 30 minutes, consider it hanging. With memory not being an issue (it was in my case), running Horace is your first option. Lukas a.k.a Swissie
