I have been experimenting with using Carl-Heinz's TsUtils called from within Route-Riter to add a more user friendly front end to his extremely technical set of utilities.I have managed to get his integrity checking option working, but it kept failing on the first line of some .trk files. On looking at these files, the first line wasSIMISA@@@@@@@@@@JINX0r1t______whereas the majority of routes have the headerSIMISA@@@@@@@@@@JINX0r0t______ Does anyone have any idea why there are two different headers for .trk files? Of those with the r1t headers are Albula line 2 and USA2Looks like a query for Sniper Mike
Looks more like a query for Mike Vone to me, considering Albula is his baby. My considered thoughtful opinion: It beats the hell outta me.I never noticed until you mentioned it, and USA2 does indeed have a 1 where all the rest have a 0. I always suspected MSTS was originally intended to be a game for driving passenger trains as fast as you could go, (Evidence, front coupler bug, wheels rolling backwards, only one right manual switch) and freight operations were a last minute afterthought. If that is true, it explains why Marias Pass has the worst trackwork of any default route, and also the 1 instead of 0 in the .trk file, probably was extracted and edited with a different version of the editing tools. MS claims the six defaults were "created on a more primitive version of the editing tools", possibly Marias is the exception. In any event that statement would verify that there has been more than one version of the editing tools, if Marias was created last, it was after the changeover, hence the different number. So why Albula? Dunno, you'd have to ask Mike, maybe he copied the USA2.trk to Albula, then renamed and hacked it.Does it really make a difference? Only one way to find out, I opened an expendable route (one of Rich Garber's ) and changed the header from a 0t to a 1t, and it opens and loads quad tile in the geo extractor, change RE start tile, opens in route editor, runs in the game. Probably something like the Serial ( 1 ) number in a .con file, nothing but a programmer's reference.
>edited with a different version of the editing tools. MS >claims the six defaults were "created on a more primitive >version of the editing tools"You mean they used something "more primitive" than the RE??? Ye gads! It's a wonder they created any routes at all, let alone 6! I hope they're all receiving adequate mental health care. Andy
Beats me too! I find that many routes use the r1t (including EUROPE1 and EUROPE2, besides USA2), but I can't see a pattern between the use of r1t and r0t.Most of my own routes use r1t, while a few use r0t. All were generated the standard way, I believe, via RGE. Michael Vone Step by Step Guide to Route Building for MSTS - http://trainsimulatorworld.com/catalog/b506.htm Object Rotator 2 freeware tool Albula Line 2.1 Route MegaCoaster Route (6 roller coasters) Rocky Islands Route Cliff Hanger Route http://avsim.com/hangar/utils/mvchallenges/
So does mine, the only default with a 1 instead of a 0 is USA2, and the RGE generates a trk file with a 0. Maybe Mike Vone got a bootleg Italian copy or something.
Hello,Next version of 'TSUtil' will accept both headers of a *.trk - file.I already send an intermediate version (3.0.090) to Mike.regards Carl-Heinz (carloshr)
Thanks Carl-Heinz and to the others for their learned opinions For Info. I have now managed to add a single button option to RR which will allow a route to be moved x squares East or West and x squares North or South. (So you can easily move it away from the 'White Voids'.)So far it works OK with simple routes using the default track/tsection.dat - Now to test it on something more exciting.Mike
