Colleagues,Construction on the E.Portal snowshed will halt for a couple of days while the chief construction engineer (i.e. me) visits the grandchildren, 1/2 of them anyway, by driving over to Ft.Walton Beach, where the #2 son and family are taking their vacation, he from the rigors of suing people in Houston for profit, and she from translating Spanish to English in the courts thereof. The son is an attorney, well, I had two sons, one is a part-time minister, the other a full-time attorney - where is the M.D.I decided to build this object in place, using the same methods that I used on trestles, and it seems to be working. Noting how MLT handled covering openings around tunnels, leads me to consider adding some of my rock files around the portal of this tunnel, which has been lowered to better fit the snowshed. In the real world, this shed (I believe it has been removed, although there is now a hiking/biking trail through here called the "Trail of the Hiawatha"), because of it's curve, prevented anyone from seeing light at the east end, if they stood in the west portal. However, persons venturing past the snowshed could see a faint dot of light, 8771 ft. (+-) away.J. H. Sullivan

Hi Jerry! Long time no 'see', eh? Good to see your work here. This snowshed is looking very nice. I am looking forward to driving the RMD4, as this is my favorite end of the Rocky Mountain divisions. Hope you have a good time visitin' with the kin. Enjoy every minute.Later,Tim
