Just installed my Cascades Crossing and ran a few trains. Then I noticed the "FRED" on the back of a train. What a surprise. Nice job on the "FRED". Thanks for the people responsible for the route and the "FRED"

Fred... "Mr. Goodwrench" a General Motors Technician in Kingman Arizona.

Looks realistic doesnt it. I've been playing around with ssw's copy of it and I almost wanted to cry. Brings bck too many memories of the good ol SP. I also think you can add it to any car you want to.

If you're gonna do it, do it with precision.

So is it actually possible to add the Freddy as a separate car?

RE: Flashing Rear End Device

I received a FRED with MLT's Michigan Iron Ore route. It is it's own car and can be connected to any piece of rolling stock with a standard coupler.Shawn

RE: Flashing Rear End Device

Mr. Goodwrench and colleagues,I too received and installed my Cascades Crossing, and I have to agree about the FRED, but more than that, the level of detail on those lumber and doublestack cars is simply incredible. Also you will note that you get wheel screech on curves, and it really sounds like welded rail. At each signal etc., there is the distinct sound of passing over insulated joints. Evidently the wheel screech and similar effects is part of the locomotive .eng file because when I ran my "Coast StarLIght" with P-42s I did not get many of the special sounds.Scenery is incredible, and accurate - though just west of Fields look for some trees planted about 20ft. in the air---LOL.I have also found tiles with counts as high as 1490 without it causing any problem - I was striving to keep my counts on the RMD-4 under 400 ---- but not anymore.Another thing - note how they have made tunnel portals with the slope of the mountain part of the portal - or laid next to it as an object - thus little or no need to use transfers. I love the rocks in the cuts, very realistic.J. H. Sullivan
