Hello all. I'd like to give an update for those who are interested in my work on this line. A lot has happened, so I'll get started.First, I bought a new computer. I got caught up in using this system because it was so much faster than my old one. Both MSTS and FS2002 seemed new. During this time, no progress was made on the route.Next, and more important for the route, I bought a timetable from Oxford Junction Press. I am very happy with it.I now have the complete track layout for my entire route. Before got the timetable, I was using my first-hand knowledge of the line, topo maps, and photo images from Terraserver to place the tracks. This was good for the overall layout of the line, but I had to guess with some things. Things like crossovers, major junctions, ect. Plus my knowledge of the route south of Poughkeepsie was limited. Now, because of the timetable, I have the exact layout of the track work. Every crossover, junction, signal, grade crossing, bridge, yard, ect. It even shows the Metro-North owned part of the route. The overall details of the route were on target before. Things like major curves, bridges, ect. But I had to fudge on the little details. No more. Now I'm rebuilding a good amount of the route. Things like yards, and the 3 branch lines on the route. These things are very time consuming. I just finished Rensselaer, and it took hours to complete. But it looks just like the real thing. Next up is the small yard at West Albany. Then it's on to the yards at Croton. The main line has not been touched in this work, only to add crossovers. In closing, the route is still being worked on, but I'm only making slow progress. The finished route should be a very good model of the Hudson Line.

Modeling CSX, Metro North(ex CR, PC, NYC) Hudson Line, West Albany to New York Penn Station, 150 miles.
Mainline 100% complete.

RE: Hudson Line Update

Sweeeet!! Good to hear, especially the bit about Rensselaer. I'm a student at RPI, so that portion of the route will probably be the most interesting part for me.And yeah, I guess I better keep plugging away on my various projects...as you know, some of them will be quite at home on your route. I know you're still doing trackwork, but I gotta hope I finish my stuff in time for the release of the route. What a day that'll be!Alex StroshanePrevious Topic | Next Topic – image 1

Well, this must be RPI day. I'm a programmer at RPI. I'd love to see this route, it sounds like a fun ride. Freighters and passengers?Keep up the good work, I'll try to be patient.Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 2

RE: Hudson Line Update

Thanks for both the updates on the route and Adirondack cars. As a side-note, my Grandfather went to RPI. It is a very nice school and was one of my top choices for college.

RE: Hudson Line Update

Great news! I'm glad to hear you've gotten more resources to make the route even better! I just took a trip up to Toronto from Croton-Harmon, it was awesome! Strangly enough I found myself thinking about this route you're working on. I had to dig back 4 pages to find this update, but I'm glad I did.Keep plugin along!Dan Godfrey

RE: Hudson Line Update

Great keep me posted. Currently I'm working on the Rutland Road which is going to include the D&H branch from Fort Ann NY, Whitehall NY to Rutland VT. So far I have also added the route from Florence VT to Rutland, Rutland south to Hoosick Falls NY, Castleton to Granville NY and of course the Rutland to Bellow's Falls branch. Have most of the main lines and the Rutland yard in now so pretty much straightening, levelling and foresting at this time, but do plan on extending the lines in several areas.

Happy Contrails!!!!

RE: Hudson Line Update

I am egerly awaiting for this to be avable.
I have many good memories of the D&H line from Albany to Mechcanicville, used to spend a lot of time riding my dirtbike (and running from the cops) alongside the tracks.
Also used to live in Watervliet very close to the Norton plant.
