I was curious if any CNW fans planned on ever doing a route on the CNW from Green Bay to Fond Du Lac, which includes the flats line through Kaukauna and Appleton to meet up at the yard right there by where Tom's Drive In is by the yard. I grew up along the line in Green Bay and in Neenah and didn't get to appreciate it as well as I would have liked to. I'd like to be able to run a train through downtown Neenah as well along where I went to school at Washington Elementary and all the way to Fondy. Hopefully the interest is there for someone else as well. Thanks for reading. Look forward to the replies. Kenny

RE: CNW route from Green Bay to Fondy

Kenny:The general reply from most of the route builders will probably be, here's your chance for fame and fortune! Learn how to build routes and gain the eternal gratitude of the Train Sim community!I think most of us who have been involved in route building have had an interest in a particular line and have taken the time to research the route and learn the beast known as the Route Editor (see Brian's post - http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/12018.html).Building a decent route takes a long time and a lot of work, so seemingly simple requests for specific routes aren't always received well. If you don't have the time to put into route building, the trick will be to find someone who has a strong interest in that particular line, and the farther it's off the big mainlines, the fewer people will have an interest. You can help by finding out as much about the line as you can - maps, photos, schedules, types of trains, etc. - and making that info available to the group. The disclaimer is that you probably won't really find fame beyond the reaches of this forum, I haven't seen anyone who's in it for the money, and the gratitude only lasts as long as a video gamer's attention span. In short, you'll have to do it because you want it!The RE's a bear, but if you take it one step at a time, before long you'll have something you can enjoy, and learn a lot in the process. I'd encourage you to take a shot at it. It might not be your thing, but give it some thought.Andy
