I beg your pardon, I need to ask you for some help. Some days ago I read some posts in this forum, where someone expressed the formula to calculate the loading time. The only thing I know is that loading time is equal ten times the number of passengers waiting on the platform. Each passenger takes 10 seconds to get on board. But I also know that it depends on the number of wagons I have in my player service, also maybe the length of the platform, and other things.I tried to search for this post, but I couldn't find it.I'm asking this because I'm making a real route that passes through my town, and I'd like to use real values for each station: several minutes for the main stations, and a few seconds for the smallest stops. Thanks for all in advance...
RE: How was the equation to calculate loading time?
Hi Eduardo,I think that was me who spoke about it recently? Well, let's see:The loading time depends on two items, one of which is under your control as route author.1) The number of passengers waiting by default, as set in the properties of the interactive platform in the RE. 2) The presence (or absence) of a line PassengerCapacity ( n ) in the .eng and .wag file(s) of the train calling at a stop, with n being any number higher than 0. The rule is: If at least one car or motor of the train which has a PassengerCapacity line in its .wag or .eng file stops precisely inside the platform area, then the loading takes 10 secs per passenger waiting at the platform. The capacity of the train itself seems not to make any difference, I did some tests with the following two trains:The first train was a passenger commuter train, consisting of a electric motor (MP54), a middle trailer, and a pilot car, each of which had the line PassengerCapacity ( 84 ). The second train was a single boxmotor (MB62) which I had set up for a PassengerCapacity ( 1 )The result is: When I stopped any of the two trains precisely at the platform, I always got the 10 secs/passenger loading. When I overshot the platform with one or two of the cars of the commuter train, I still had the last car within the platform markers, and loading remained 10secs/pax. Whn I overshot with the boxmotor by 1/2 of its car length, or when also the last car of my three car passenger train was halfway past the end of the platform, loading still worked, but the time went up to 1-2 minutes. Now I realised that many passenger trains only have the PassengerCapacity line in one or two of its many cars, thus the loading only works properly when exactly this car stops right at the platform (see default Orient Express train, where only the bar coach has the line, and KuJu made a note in the documentation that you have to stop precisely with this car at the platform for activities to work properly). Thus it is important when you create activities for your route that you make sure the trains coming with your route have the PassengerCapacity in every file...Btw: You can also reach the same goal simply by manually editing the schedule for your player trains in activities. You have to double-click on the arrival time, and MSTS lets you set the time manually. Say MSTS calculated a stop at station X from 8:45:43 to 8:46:13 for your activity and you wished to alter this to a more reasonable and prototypical 1 minute stop:Double click the arrival time, and enter the new departure time first (no typo - you can only double click on the arrival time, but it works for both times), lets say 8:47:00. Click ok, and both times in the schedule will change to 8:47:00. Now double click on the arrival time once more, and change it to 8:46:00. Now the arrival time changes only, and the schedule for the player train in the F10 window now calls for Station X 8:46:00 8:47:00That's a much easier and safer way to get your prototypical stopping times into the sim. While the passenger loading (counting clock) may be complete after 30 secs, the player train will have to wait until 8:47:00 for the departure signal.Feel free to send me a private message if you need more info!Lukas a.k.a Swissie
RE: How was the equation to calculate loading time?
Lukas:Thank you very much for your reply. Now I understand other doubts that I had about this features, for example to change the departure time. I also found strange that in most cases it didn't give me order to proceed!.Well, now I'm happy with your post. This information is very important and with this basis I will fix them all. Before change the values I will restore the default ones, and then I'll start trying again.Thank you very much..Kind regards...
