Helping a friend with his route, I came across very long curved switches for the first time like this one, but noticed it's blades touching both stock rails, rectifying itself after the first time the switch is being chaged:It seems that a filename of A1tPnt1000r8dLftMnl suggests that the longer curved rail is in fact the Main Path and the short left curve is the diverging Switch Path, which had my friend confused for a while. I am reading this correctly ? The F8 pointers seem to confirm that:Thanks, O t t o.
Okay for the $1million question, who made those switches? (no you won't get $1million).I recognize the animation problem from some other switches and will look into it time permitting. Next release it's hopefully corrected cause it's a simple fix.The naming convention I used is Lft or Rgt is which track is considered the diverging track and has nothing to do with the overall curvature of the switch. There is a a1tPnt1000r8dRgtMnl that is a mirror of that switch but curving to the left. Switches are made so that you can use them together with the corresponding a1tPnt1000r12dLftMnl switch to make a crossover on a curve. Add two a1t1000r10d sections for the missing pieces and you have a completed crossover that fits in place of one a2t1000r20d curve section without need for any dynamic track. There is some logic to my naming convention if you imagine straitening the above crossover and look at the resulting track layout. Travelling the crossover you go from right track to left track thus a left hand switch.Same set of switches is also available for 500r curves and there is some documentation about their use at my site.PS Otto, don't look at the F8 window for confirmation cause it will look the same for all switches when straight path is selected (just notised you have selected the diverging path and then it is correct). Only the original switches show the diverging track correctly initially and NO it's not something to do with the switches but the hacker implementing that window to lazy doing it properly.
Otto, I was testing some new switches a couple of weeks ago, and noticed the same situation. I e-mailed the builder, but haven't heard back. I think Okrasa may be right. That just gave me a thought. I have another builders switches for testing. I didn't look for that situation at first, but I think I'll go back and look again.Hawk
Last night I heard an old freight whistle blow, as I was sleeping warmly in your bed-And it told me "Boy, it's time that you was packin' up to go.", but I smiled and shook the leavin' from my head.
