I just downloaded the Rollins/Moffat route, and there seems to be a problem. I followed the ReadMe, downloaded the four files, Unzipped all of them, and copied them into the Route File. But, it doesn't seem to show up in the AE, RE, or the game. The only place it shows up, is the RGE. Was it a waste of time to download it or not? Please Help!! Zach

In the grand scheme of things, yes, you have wasted precious time you could have spent : a) helping those less fortunate than you; b) learning from the masters of literature, art, or thought; c) contemplating the utter futility of all existence. But since you've chosen to ignore the great truths of life and follow the path of the rest of us here on the forums, then relatively speaking, no, it's not a waste of time. Rollins Pass is a nice route to run, and has worked for most of us out here in T-S land. I know you have already done this, but remove the Rollins Pass folder from your Train Simulator/Routes folder. Now go to the first .zip file, unzip it, find the readme, and follow it exactly step by step. The key is "exactly step by step." I don't have the readme in front of me, but that approach worked fine for me. Just a couple of quick thoughts - did you run the installme.bat file? Do you have the six original MSTS routes installed and in their proper location? Are you using RouteRiter for spanned zip files?Andy
Not a waste of time IMO. I installed this route recently, and I like it. Take the suggestions that DRGWK36 gave you and you won't have any problem. Have you installed any other routes? It isn't that hard to do once you get used to it. It's all in learning the correct path for file types. There is a small bug in loading Rollins Pass. Check out this thread and read the last message. http://www.train-sim.com/cgi/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&forum=DCForumID7&om=2147Don has promised to fix this with the next release.Good luck, and enjoy.
Zach,NOT!!!!!The problem is not with the route. Read the readme and follow the instructions. Remember that Xtracks and NEWROADS do NOT go in the route folder but in Train Simulator/Global/Shapes. The tsection goes in Train Simulator/Global. When you say you copied all files into the Routes Folder, they should all be in a folder called Rollins Pass within the Routes folder. If you install per instructions, you will still be missing a lot because you have not downloaded the two updates to the route. Get them. It looks like you are new here, as we all once were, and you may not follow some of what is being said, but I can assure you that "drgwman" will love this route with its updates. To clarify some of what has been said: No, you did not run the installme.bat file because there is none, because this route does not use or require it. Also, it does NOT require that any other routes be installed. (Those two items go together, by the way. Both or neither.). Also, you need not be concerned with RouteRiter or the complications of spanned zip files, because neither is involved with this route. These are simple traditional zip files, because I don't believe that anyone should have to either purchase or steal Winzip. Just unzip each one and copy to Routes. The "bug" mentioned here about loading the route comes into play when going into the Activity Editor. The link explains what to do.Another MAJOR update is coming soon for this route, although I may forget about still another update and simply upload a complete new route. It is important to me that you get the route installed and working. Keep posting until that is accomplished, or contact me at OldRollinsPass@aol.com.Enjoy.(Below is my new Denver Moffat Depot, built by Mark DiVecchio from my photos and measurements. Did I ever get some curious looks with my tape measure.)Don
Though I have not run the route completely from point to point yet, what I have seen is very good! Definitely worth downloading and as said before, if you follow the readme file instructions, all should go well!Don, is the "update" mainly for scenery or will there be additions to the track work? Just curious. Keep up the good work!Mykel
Mykel,Over 40 miles of track have been added in metro Denver from the depots area up through Utah Junction, mostly yards, but have also improved the leads into town from DRGW Colorado Springs, UP Cheyenne, CB&Q Chicago, and CB&Q Cheyenne. Included are double track leads in and out of Union Station, double freight track out to the south from between the depots, a new more prototype Prospect Junction and Fox Junction, a more accurate junction plus more yard tracks and servicing facilities at Utah Junction, a larger North Yard, a new Fox yard, CB&Q yards, C&S yard, UP close-in yard. Also was able to do some work on the 23rd St. viaduct curve (there are no viaduct curve pieces available) so I no longer need to try to hide it, added the 16th St. viaduct, 7 more stations and 2 resort hotels, many buildings, sounds, new Tabernash station area trackwork and signals to better serve the station from both directions at the same time, a Denver wye, Arrow dining hall, 20th St. viaduct drop-down into the yards, and whatever I am forgeting.Don
Don,I'm so glad you chimed in and pointed out all the booboos I mentioned. I hope drgwman reads your instructions, as they are correct and mine were not.Last evening I created the Speedster-UP consist by copying another and renaming it. That did the trick for the Activity Ed. Now the problem is gone.Your next update sounds interesting, more freight yards, yea. I'll try to be patient and wait for your release. Good luck.
