A custom object I d/l'ed shines bright at night. Is there any editable parameter in the S file text that will mute the effect? Thanks in advance,Hank

RE: Textures that glow at night

Hank,I had the same problem with a sign I added to a station. The following advice was courtesy of Bill Burnett:------------------ 1. First, back up the object's .s file.2. Then uncompress the .s file for the station sign. I use Route-Riter for this.3. Then open the .s file with a text editor like WordPad.4. Near the top of the file you will see a line that says named_shader. Inside the parentheses to the right put BlendATexDiff in place of what is currently there. That line should now look like the one belownamed_shader ( BlendATexDiff )5. You can the recompress the .s file, but I don't know if it is necessary. You sign will probably be less bright during the day, but won't be bright at night unless the train's headlight shines on it.---------------------Give it a try -- it worked for me.

John,Thanks for the help. I thought the fix was in the header, but didn't know what needed to be put in. Thanks,
Hank

RE: Textures that glow at night

Any shader that doesn't contain "Diff" will not be affected by diffuse lighting - i.e the sunlight and will just show the texture colours only.If all shaders have the Diff part and the model still glows, then the problem is with the vtx-states, one may be set to "Bright" - use the SFM to fix this by setting it to "Normal".

OkrasaIs there a listing anywhere of the arguments for 'shader' and what general effects they may have?BTW, did you try the signal I sent you on your 'instant wye'?I took part of that idea and used tram switches to made a micro wye hidden inside of one of Enocell's larger warehouses. Smaller loco's can now enter the warehouse and reenter play facing frontwards. The effect is you don't see the wye in the yard area, but the functionality is there. Glue a couple of warehouses together for a larger wye.Regards,
Hank

>BTW, did you try the signal I sent you on your 'instant wye'? No I have not yet gone looking for that signal you suggested. I''m waiting for a responce from David Beach thus it has been dormant while looking at some other sections from Steven Masters and Andrew Gadd.
See, if I can get around to it this weekend.
