There is a tutorial at the Australian Steam4Me site on how the RE handles memory, but it is unavailable. After having been trashed by the RE once too often, I'm of the opinion that the RE ought to be outlawed. If I ever win the jackpot I'll hire a lawyer and sue everybody involved in the RE development. Short of that does anybody have some good ideas on the RE and memory. I save often (and it is mandatory), and I have 512 Mb of RAM, but still, every now and then I get hit by the "send/don't send" pop-up (which itself should be made illegal). Thanks, DKT

Funny, I've never had any problems in that regard. Have you tried increasing your page file size?Good luck with that suing thing.

There's almost nothing you can do to get the RE to work better if you have at least 512MB RAM. I have spent over $1000 for faster computer and all that was wasted (except other thing _should_ work faster, but I can't see much difference).
I have 1GB RAM, and the RE doesn't use even half of it. If it would do that, it'd be much smoother instead of those annoying long pauses after slight camera movement.

That may have more to do with video display issues. Again, I've never experienced that sort of thing in RE. Of course once my route gets populated with more than just terrain and track that might change I suppose.Hopefully the fact that I'm running a 3.0 GHz P4 with 2Gb dual channel 400MHz memory and a Geforce4 5900 vid card under Win2K will mitigate any problems.

RE: RE memory

what OS are you running? The RE has a memory leak, and unless you are running windows 2000 or XP, you are bound to have problems, because the other OS's don't contain memory leaks very well.Mark

Okay that's good. Go into My Computer and select Advanced. Click on the Performance Options button (from what I recall since I use Win2K but it should be about the same) and then the Change button under the Virtual Memory heading. For each hard drive listed in your system change the min page file size to 2042 and the max to 4094. Click Set and exit out. It'll tell you you have to reboot to enable the new settings of course.Just so it won't come as a big surprise, doing so will cause your system to take a little longer to boot up but it's worth the wait.
