Can anyone tell me the exact length of an a2t2000r10d track? I'm building an object to match that size and by my calculation the centerline length is 349.02942829m (and I've built my object to that dimension) but it seems a bit short when compared to the track.TIADave Nelson
My calculations says 349.06585m thus you are right, you are a little short if only by little under 4cm. Formula is: length = 3.1415927 * radius * degree / 180
Dave:Your calculation is good. My calculation returns 349.0658 for the arc, but I don't think that a difference of 3 or 4 centimetres mean much, it depends on how exactly we take the number Pi:=3.14159266 for my count. From point to point, the chord returns 348.63 metres in a straight line.Is there much space left?I hope you can work it out.Regards
Do you want the length down the middle, between the tracks? Inside track, outside track? They will all be different. The inner track has radius 1997.5075 meters and will be 348.6308271 meters long. The outer track has radius 2002.4925 meters and will be 349.5008737 meters long. Right down the middle will be a radius of 2000 meters and will be 349.0658504 meters. Also, the inside and outside edges of the roadbed will be something different as well.Mark

Found my error!I do a lot of 2d cad and then from those drawings I build a shape in 3d (TSM). While drawing I erased a reference line I used between the centerline of the shape and the center point of the 2000r arc. Later on I put it back, but somehow the that was off by 4cm and that made the centerpoint of the arc off as well. It was from that misplaced centerpoint I drew the line that would locate the end of my 10d shape. So, I've got remeasure the drawing and then move a few points on the shape. Should be okay after that. Thanks for your help.Dave NelsonWP mainline, Oakland-Stockton: 100% complete; SP mainline, Oakland-Stockton: 20% complete; Aug 1950 <<new .sig under construction>>
