Folks,I'm trying to create an animated Western RR Supply wig-wag signal using TSM.If I convert the model without animation, it loads properly in MSTS, but is static (of course!). If I add animation in TSM, check the "Complex Object" box in Project Properties, and set the "Last Animation Frame" to the proper value, then convert the object... "send/don't send" when I try to place the object in MSTS (or even view a thumbnail!). Obviously, there is something in the shape file MSTS doesn't like. The only question is... WHAT????I must note that a while back I was able to successfully create an animated ATSF Style 10 wig-wag. Nothing is really different about this project aside from the fact that the WRRS signal has two banners. But, if I add ANY animation at all (even just a simple 1-frame deal on one banner), MSTS doesn't like it.What do I have to do to get MSTS to accept my animated objects?

I think your problem may be "complex object". I have created animated objects (radar antenna on tugboat, windsock, strobe lights) without checking that box. Make sure your part hierchy is correct. I am not sure TSM will even let you save the project if the hierchy is wrong. When you set the last animation frame, what number did you use? That number should be one less than the number of frames since the first frame is zero. Did you go into the animation screen and create the animation sequence? You need to specify the axis of rotation and the angle for each frame. Are there any night textures involved? MSTS does not like animated night textures.Cal Rasmussen

RE: Creating animated scenery in TSM

I unchecked the "complex object" box, and re-converted the object. Now I have a static model... I check the "Animate this object" box in the RE and the thing just sits there! The part hierarchy is correct as far as I can tell... mast assembly, etc. all joined together and labeled MAIN, each target is a separate object having MAIN for a parent. Animation frames are numbered 0 to 17, last animation frame in Properties is 17. No night textures. As I said, I was able to do an animated ATSF Style 10 wig-wag a while back... why won't the one I'm working on now work?

Bruce,
You have a PM.Hawk

Last night I heard an old freight whistle blow, as I was sleeping warmly in your bed-And it told me "Boy, it's time that you was packin' up to go.", but I smiled and shook the leavin' from my head.

RE: Creating animated scenery in TSM

My guess - the problem is here:
Animation frames are numbered 0 to 17, last animation frame in Properties is 17.
Should probably be 0 to 16 in rot file.
